I though I had this problem solved but it came back. The coils are not hot when I lose power. Any idea of what to look for?

Have you checked the pickup coil gap? That's been reported to cause a similar misfiring problem. They've reset the spec to .8mm on that gap. Have you swapped coils to see if the problem travels with the coil? After following several threads that report similar problems these seem to be the most common failures...too big a gap, intermittent pickup coil (heat generated), bad igniton coil and lastly followed by the dreaded blown ignitor.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

Hey bro, when my coil went it never got hot! Simply did a bit of troubleshooting by swapping coils and wires from one side to the other and found my problem to be the coil itself. If this is your problem, I have one for you free of charge. Remember to try and fire the bike up one side at a time though because the crossover pipe in the exhaust will give you a false indication that both sides are running. Good Luck!

I got a set of new coils on the way. But did your coils go bad and quit working completely or did they tend to quit working intermittingly

Mine went crazy...A few months back, my R/H cylinder was missing, popping and spitting going down the road until I hit a pot hole...then it fixed itself. Didnt have anymore issues for awhile. Then, I rode the bike for 80 miles or so on a Saturday but when I got on it to go to work on Monday, the R/H side wouldnt fire at all. Troubleshot, narrowed it down and put in a new coil-problem solved! Knock on wood, it runs like a dream!
Let me know if your new coil fixes problem.
Good Luck
