I shouldn't think one broken fin would be a problem, still lots of mass available for cooling. I wonder, though, if your chain tensioner might need to be reset?

i realize its wont effect the cooling of the enigine looks ugly thats all
as for the rattle it sounds a lot like loose tappets i'll run your suggestion past the mechanic and see what he reckons
BTW befor tune dyno at 50hp after dyno at 54hp a 8% increase bu lifting the needles, 45 to 48 pilot's i allready had 125 mains

If you still have the fin it's likely you could reattach it with a judicious application of JB Weld (a two part metal filled hi temp epoxy glue). It's not like it's under any stress when its in use.

rang the mechanic asked him about the topend rattle in my engine,he told me its the exhaust on the left side he checked and rechecked and apparently rechecked it again checked the timing, checked the cam's+cam chain tension and it still rattled, shame he didnt tell me this on saturday when i picked it up,back down their tomorrow week so he can pull it apart and have another look, thinking their is something wrong with the bucket it self, failing that start looking at the offending valve

wouldn't worry about the broken fin at all. Have seen many bikes over the years with a missing fin or 2 with no ill effects.
