I ran across this article.
What does "A ROW has broken out" mean? And what is a "priority system"?

A row in this context is an argument or a fight. The way it's pronounced rhymes with "cow", not "flow".

As for priority systems??? That one a pom'll have to field.

In this circumstance, doesn't "Priority System" equate to Traffic Signal System? Where 'priority' is given to a certain direction of travel, such as the East/West traffic has the default green light and South/North traffic get the green when a signal sensor is activated.

Right then...

I kinda know the road where it happened. I remember going along it many years ago. I've since been told it's one of the most dangerous roads in Somerset. Not because it's a high speed road or anything like that, just its twisty and a hill. You can see NOTHING! It's also about an hour on the twisties from me...

Row = barny, ruckus, arguement....you get the idea.

Priority system = a means of letting one direction of traffic have priority over the other I'm not..how it would work on that road I'm not sure.

Shunt = in this context is a crash, collision... at work is something else.

1:4 road = the gradient is 1 in 4.

Trunk road....I'm not sure exactly how to word this one. It's a main road, normally a dual carriageway, but not a motorway/highway. I'll go off and check that one.
[edit] ok been off and found this on Wikipedia
Quote:

A trunk road, trunk highway, or strategic road is a major road—usually connecting one or more cities, ports, airports, etc.—which is the recommended route for long-distance and freight traffic. Many trunk roads have segregated lanes in a dual carriageway, or are motorway standard.

MP....Member of Parliament.

Where did you find that article???? IT's not even metioned on SouthWestBikers.com.... (the local biker forum...)

Shunt = Vehicles crashing. ( Picture trains shunting waggons)

MP = Minister of Parliment .

1:4 road = steep road,the gradient I think.

Trunk road = A main road to or from a town centre, not a motorway.

Oh and also most of the roads in Somerset are twisty turnie roads and therefore concidered dangerous. Most bikers take them far too quickly and the hedgerows mean you can't see round the corners....that's why they are dangerous to bikers. Take them steady - like 40-60 mph, depending on the conditions, - and they are fine.

And NIBiker....a good shunt with trains don't involve crashing wagons! Well not where I work and not when I'm shunting....

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....
