Has anyone been cited in the States (or elsewhere) for excessive noise with the Thunderbike pipes? I have them and love them, but prefer earplugs on the road.....

I just ride with Jaymo. He has Sceptres and he gets the tickets instead.

never had a cop bother me about my pipes. I think they are just about as loud as you can get.

People here in Gladstone Qld Australia are being pulled over and cited for not having the numbers on the pipes match the numbers on a sticker on the swingarm. I have TOR shorties, and am dreading the day this (prick) cop gets me. He's hassling everyone, on all breeds of bike. My mate got done on his Harley while it was parked outside MacDonalds. It was not even noise related! Be thankful you ain't experiencing this!!
My parting point (on my soap box) - motorcyclists on the road are not often seen, so being "heard" could save your life.

Aussies have got.....BUNDY RUM!!

Michael, what do you expect from a government/country that does not trust it's own people to own firearms?

You got that right. I don't qunderstand what's going on down under. I always thought they had more grit than the folks in Europe and yet the government is bowling them over. Just doesn't seem right.

Well, those TOR's are louder than Nelson's TB's for sure, so might want to get some. I wish the Federales were doing the swingarm numbers check on my last jaunt to a quiet preserve . . . that herd of HD riders, each no doubt with the obligatory Vance & Hines straight shot pipes, was totally annoying. You could easily imagine the parents telling their children to run for cover! At least the TB's are baffled and remain relatively calm unless pressed to bark at full throttle. No wonder bikes and their riders are viewed with such dislike generally.

New Hampshire is taking a different approach. They're ticketing dealers and mechanics who give inspection stickers to any bike louder than 106db. $10K to the dealer and $2K to the mechanic. I'm not sure how they can enforce this because most guys I know have or have switched to slip-on's so they can pass inspection then put the louder pipes on the bike. It's a pain in the neck but a fact of life in most states now.

yes and I wonder how many cops will like my fire? I dont find any laws against it... So I guess the when I get the details worked out and the first time I go to court over my "DRAGONS" I will be sure to let you all know the adventure. I dont think that I will have two many problems. I live in a town with 14,000 people and 40 cops, and 10 fireworks stores. So if I am carefull I think i will be ok...

Prepare to read of the facts of life in Germany. If it even looks loud your nicked.A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to get pulled over by the local law for having TOR shorties on.Lucky? you may be thinking, well considering that it only cost me 30 euros and a warning, yes. If it dos`nt have an E approved number,a statement from the manufacturer,or any other kind of official document written in blood your well and truely screwed. They can and do take you off the road on the spot.If your lucky and their in a good mood they'll let you trailer it home or refit the originals.Assuming of course you can get them to you somehow.Argument is deadly, they simply confiscate the bike complete and send you the bill for all the transport, testing and admin costs. You can then collect your pride and joy months later, minus pipes plus dents and scratches.God help me if they catch me again, thunderpipes, bigger jets, modified airbox and I had to drill the brackets of the original pipes.Terrorists here just get a slap on the wrist,Bikers are mercilessly hounded to ends of the earth.javascript:void(0)
