I have the dubious honor of being the last to post a thread on the old board (concerning the tach install).

To refresh:

Got a tach kit for Christmas and everything progressed fine (mine is an 02 so I had to change out the console harness and add the wire, no big deal).

The instructions told me to 'locate the main harness instrument block and insert the free end of the cable into the top row of the connector block 3rd from the end' and even showed a pic of inside the headlight bucket.
-----------------------------------
After continuing to search, I found a PDF from Tean Triumph (I think) stating that the wire from the ignitor goes into the empty hole in the CONSOLE connector block (3rd from the bloody end).

Did so and the tach is working like a champ!!

I had the same issue and the same result. Instructions could have been much clearer but I'm very happy with the tach.

Hey!!! Bonnyusa - how you like the new site??? Seems more complex to me, not as user friendly. How ya been?? I also scratched my head on the tach install on my '02. Also found the aftermarket note from TT stating Triumph failed to say where the lead connected at.

List price is, as best I can remember from a year ago, $163US. If your dealer wants $300, that should include installation and calibration. When I got mine, I got a 10% discount for buying a bike to put under it.

Hey Gusser,

Yeah, it took a little getting used to this newfangled site but I really like it now. Spend a couple of hours looking around. I think you may agree!!

Do you remember where on TT that file was? I think is was a PDF, right?

My dealer wanted $200 to install on my 04 TBA, Ordered one for $160 on line and put it on in 5 mins. (dealer thought it was about an hours job......) Turns 4K at 70 MPH.

Hey Moe,

Yep, that was it! and nowhere near the headlight bucket like Triumph's instructions tell you

When I replaced the harness, I already knew about the bulbs (had an intermittent nuetral one awhile ago). What I did was to roll the edges back down over the sleeve (kinda' like a condom is rolled, whatever that is!) and this exposed the bulbs enough for me to pop them out. Getting them back in was another story. I dropped them in as lined up as possible and then pushed with my little finger until they seated. Took several tries per bulb.

If I had TT's instructions to begin with, I would have had the whole job done in about 30 minutes. I'm envious of you guys with the new harnesses!!
