Be careful when dealing with side covers. I almost screwed up my engine because of one. When I went down on my bike about 2 years ago, I put a scratch on the shifter side cover. I decided rather then buff it out I would replace it. When I ordered the cover, I found there were several part #’s for it based on the year of the bike. When I ordered the correct one, it didn’t seem to go on very easily but it fit. When I had everything back together and tried to turn over the engine, it wouldn’t turn over. Seems that the side cover bound up the starter gears. Luckily it didn’t screw up or break anything internally. After doing some investigating I found that Triumph had some milling problems with some of their side cases during the manufacturing of them. After learning of that problem, didn’t want to take the chance on a replacement cover and stuck with the old casing.
