I'm in my second 3 weeks stay here in Albuquerque, and thought I'd pass along a nice tavern to hit when in the area. Two Fools Tavern is located in the Nob Hill area on Central, which is the old Route 66 thru Albq. They have only been open for a little over a year, and I have made it a 2 or 3 nite stop for me during the week. Done in old style pub decore with dark wood bar and back, with wood floors, the interior is quite inviting. The menu is varied, with my favorites being the 'Cottage Pie', 'Guiness Stew' and the 'Fish and Chips'. The chips are not proper brit syle, being basic french fries, but the fish is great. I also enjoyed the 'Boxty' and 'Scottish Eggs', although the eggs didn't like me! . My biggest favorites there is the friendly staff and customers, having struck up conversations with a few Triumph riders on different occassions. Biggest boon for the place tho, is the over 70 Scotch and Irish whiskeys they have, most 12 and 15 year single malts with a price tag of $6-9. And they don't skimp on the pour either. I'm trying to work my way thru all of them, but trying to be a responsible driver, that only allows me 2-3 a visit ( with a Smithwicks or a Two Fools IPA) to go along with food. Well, I've just talked myself into another visit there this afternoon to knock of a few more from the list. So if you happen to be in Albquerque, stop in and tell Amanda or Thomas the mgr that Tom from Florida told you to hit the place, you won't be dissapointed.

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

Tom,

Sounds great. I have been on travel also (in and out of California, currently out in the Pacific Ocean). While on land we found a really nice Pub in Ventura, CA called "The Victoria Pub". Your Two Fools Pub sounds very similar. Also found a very nice brew Pub downtown Ventura called Anacapa Brewing Company. If in Ventura I would recommend both.

My next stop will be in San Diego, CA with no less than 3 British style Pubs to eat and drink. One is in the Old Mission area, one in Little Italy and the other downtown in the Gas Lamp district. Can't remember the names at this time. All three are very good.

Tom

I used to frequent the San Diego area back in the late 80's. There were some really nice places to eat and drink...wonderful seafood! Take care out there in the Big pond....if you get to Tahiti, please get a picture of those gals in "grass skirts with no tops" for me! Anybody know what movie and who's line that is?

later, Tom.
