This is the 3rd time since April.....brand new Speedmaster, first it was the pulse sensor on the crank and now, apparently, 2 sets of coils. They checked the CDi, it tested fine, all they seem to do is change the leads and plugs. I did notice that they have cable tied the rubber sleeves onto the coils. This bike just doesn't like the rain! Any advise ??

It's very important to use Dielectric grease on all your connections. Even pull all your fuses and make sure there is no corrosion. 2 Sets of coils sounds crazy to me. Sounds like they're trying to save money by trying these other shotgun fixes. Something else is happening. CDI boxes are notoriuos for being intermitent. They can't check it cold. The bike needs to be hot for the the CDI to start acting up.

Dielectric grease on every connection. I know it seems like a lot of work but when you get started it will go pretty quick.
Pay particular attention to the kick stand switch, lot's of reports about that issue.

How did they check the CDI? I was told by my dealer when mine was going/went bad that it couldent be checked, they gave me a reason why but im not remembering it now.

Good question. When Matt lent me his CDI, I installed it and everything ran fine. Re-installed mine, ran like crap. End of story, right? Had to be the CDI, right?

Wrong. I re-re-installed Matt's and went for a ride. After everything heated up nicely, intermittent cutting out problem returned! It was the aftermarket Nology coils (which were promptly replaced by Nology).

The point is, you cannot bench check the electronics on these bikes easily. You pretty much have to road test them....

None of this really helps him out. 3 times left on the road with a brand new bike and a dealer who apparently doesn't have a clue. Would one not think the dealer has a tech that looks for and greases things.

Do you have a lemon law where you live? Its time for you to start screaming very loudly at this point.

Somebody dig up old man Lucas. He would love to see this stuff.
