Hmm, don't want to say I'm all that old, but I thought this thread was going to be about a Matchless!
Nice Honda, though.

GB 500 TT was made from 86 to 89. I wish my 1970 441 Victor Special had horsepower of 42 hp @ 7000 rpm, 32.5 ft. lbs of torque @ 6000 rpm, a 6 speed trans and a 5.5 gallon gas tank- I might ride it more often. If copying is the sincerest form of flattery, the Japanese like British motorcycles.

Bob... There was an old article in CW, where White Bro's took a stock CB500; added one of their exhaust systems, re-jetted, then pull a 12 sec. quarter mile (103mph, I think)!!!

Oh, HOT ******. She's purrrrdy. They're both purrrdy, actually. Wow, I never knew Honda made Norton clones. In general, how rare are they, and how are they to ride and maintain? (I certainly won't be buying another bike for a long time, but I can always shop, y'know? Geez, makes me reconsider my vow after buying my SM -- "I'll never go back to Japanese Bikes." Thanks! --Jaeger

Uncommon in this country since I think they only put them out for a short 2 year run. They command a good price on the used market...generally around 4-5 grand if it's anything close to fine condition. I've never ridden one, but I sure lusted after one when they first came out and I saw one in a motorcycle mag. But then I'm always into that retro look. If you're seriously considering it as a bike to ride, I think you'd be better off with a Thruxton. A 500 thumper would be strictly for around town/back road duties IMO, but a Thruxton could be ridden anywhere. Thumpers do hold a special place for those who love them though. Walneck's has this one listed for $3900.

Jaeger... Like Derek said, the 500 was imported to the US for a couple of years, I believe. Honda did make a 250 & 400 version.. for about a 5-year timespan (late-80s's to early-90's).
They're a fun ride.. extremely smooth if you keep the rev's up, but strictly a day-tripper & no match for a Truxton.
