It's called the Freak. However, some of us have just drilled the airbox and removed the snorkle with pretty good results. You can get a UNI or K&N filter for the stock airbox.

I got the freak which is A-OK if you want to keep the "cheese graters" and side panels on your ride. If not I would reccomend just buying the filters and either the stainless carb brace from someone like Brent or using a turnbuckle like a few others have on this site.
My main complaint with the freak is the bolt that goes thru the frame between the filters seems to rub on the filters and seems like it may rub thru after a few years of riding?
just my opinion, take it or leave it?

Been there, done that. The most economical performance gain is to just drill the bottom of your airbox out. Nothing against the freak, the nark (somehow I just don't like that name...probably just me) or BP's system you pay huge $$ for with his Mikuni 42s, but the ghetto freak idea is the way to go.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Another advantage to the "freak". ( me and my buds were labeled that in high school ) is easy access to the carbs / carb removal. Something about that big Ole ugly airbox it just had to go mike

Hey, does anyone have an easy solution to the battery box and anything else that's supported by the stock airbox, if I remove it and just go with pods and a carb brace?
Man, if I knew anything, I'd be rich and famous...

Kilface. the battery box bracket is independent of the airbox. Now if you are looking to relocate it under the seat that's a different story but it has been done. Mike

A number of us have fabbed something. Budweiser mentioned in his silver bullet thread that he's one. This was my approach:

Ok so maybe we've done the Freak to death but as I've heard a number of times there is a problem with the size of the bolt rubbing on one of the pods, I'd just like to know what size bolt should I get or should I just grind it down before I start the conversion? There is only one large bolt that comes with the kit and it is 80mm long with an allen head and nylon nut, so can someone who has "been there and done that" enlighten me now on what I should do? Finally, if this is an ongoing problem, why hasn't the bolt been changed? I remember reading this a while back and ordered my kit after the complaint about the bolt. Mind you I might be jumping the gun and have the right sized bolt who knows? Considering the bolt I have is 80mm long though, I'd be surprised the one it replaced was longer therefore I have a bolt that is too long like everyone else

If it's the Freak kit just turn the one pod a little. You don't see it anyway. On mine the right the pod hits the bolt a little. No big deal just turn the pod some and problem solved.
Rhnstn, I really like the look of that. Nice clean job it appears. Also looks sturdy.

Thanks, Ian. It works well for my taste. Not quite as sturdy as I planned, though. I went to get 16 ga. stainless for the "box". It was right at Christmas time last year. The guy went back in the shop to look for it & came back with a piece of .050 with a bent corner and a tire track on it and said "Merry Christmas". I couldn't turn it dowm.

Too bad since it looks like it should be nice and sturdy.
