Hello once again everybody. It has been quite awhile since I have been to this fine site. I see there are quite a few new members here. I have been so busy here at work and at home that I just do not seem to get on board here very often anymore. That and my shoulder problems have both kept me from riding as often as I wouild like to. However, I have managed to do some modifications to the Silverbullet in the last few weeks. I wanted to do the "Freak" and after looking at the installation instructions on-line I deceided to order the K&N filters direct from Riverside, Ca. and make the nesessary brackets myself.I did this project for under $100.00 and holy CR*P, what a difference in power. Of course since I now had more air I obviously need more fuel. I went from 142 mains which I installed two years ago to 152.5s. HOLY FRIGGIN CR*P !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She runs super, super hard & strong now. Of course drilling the vacuum port on the throttle slides helped the response tremendously as well.I had no idea this machine had this kind of potential. If you want more performance, I highly recommend this mod. Cosmetically I chopped some off of the rear fender as well as a little off the front. Relocated the rear turn signals and obviously the tailite. I may reinstall the chrome thingy,s that used to be where the K&Ns are now showing.Next I will relocate the front signals when I get time. I cannot stress just how much more power I have now. By the way, the A-I was removed as soon I took delivery on my machine in Jan. 02. Almost forgot, with my latest performance mod,my screws are two turns out. Her is a pic. Take care everyone and ride safe !!!!!!!! Buuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrpppppppppp !!!!!!!!!!

Looks great Bud-man. I too have a do-it-yourself Freak with drilled slides. BIG difference! Wouldn't mind a bit more detail on the tail light move if you get a chance.

I cut appx. 4" off of the fender and basically just moved the tailite up. I had to use a different seal/weatherstrip to take up the extra gap around the bezel since the curvature was different in the new location and it looks factory. To cut the fender I used electrical tape to mark my cut and then a 32 tooth jigsaw blade. Very clean cut with no paint chipping.

Turn signals........... Drilled out the existing mounting holes for the fender support to 3/8". took two 3/8" bolts and drilled a 3/16" hole all the way through them for the wires. Made a short steel tube extension about 3/4" long so the lights would stand out just a short distance from the fender support.

I had wondered what happened to ya. Welcome back. I have yet to do the FREAK. Somehow I have had it in my mind that it could not be worth the cost.

You are lucky the drilled slide mod worked for you. I did not have so much luck. After doing the mod I occasionally get a “hick-up†type backfire whenever I quickly crack open the throttle. Not too often – but enough to be annoying, and bring on a small feeling of regret. The mechanics at 3 of the regions Harley Davidson agencies no longer perform this mod for Harley owners for the same reason. They suggested I should have tried a more reversible mod such as lighter slide springs. Or purchase another set of springs and cute a short length off each. Anyway, good to know it’s all working with you. Keep us all informed of your progress. Fender looks so great, I thought it was a factory job!!

The dyno guy in NH told us "Don't drill your slides!" Then a few minutes later, he told me I had a (his words) "perfect tune." My slides are drilled.

Nice job with the bike. If you could, a close up shot of the fender cuts would be nice. I've been thinking of something similar, especially in the front. Did you have to repaint, or did you just mask it off and start cutting?
