I read in a different thread these bars were not very comfortable. I understand that is a matter of opinion, and that being said, am asking for the opinions of anyone using them. I was going to order some before I saw the post about the way your wrists would be cocked. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I've had mine for 10 months now, I do have a little problem on long runs with a sore wrist. I still like the position enough to deal with the slight discomfort. I have also installed the universal vista cruise control and cramp buster. Bob

For me they're very comfortable. Arms and wrists are in a natural position. It's as much a style choice as anything; standard, buckhorn, apes, beach bar, cafe' etc. Personally I like the lines of the buckhorns, matched with the America's semi-raked profile. I think from a strictly handling point of view you could argue, and maybe somebody will, the buckhorns don't have the same "feel" as the stock bars. If so, I can't tell much of a difference, before and after. I've had them for three years. Of course from a strictly handling point, the ba/sm isn't quite the same as a T-100 styled bike. But it does OK jh

Thanks Y'all for the quick responses. Phil, that picture really helped. I was thinking of some mini apes at first, then saw the Buckhorns and with the fact that they will work w/o changing cables, the decision was pretty much made. I don't beleive the difference in handling would be very noticeable or at least take long to get used too. I have used apes on a chopper before, that took a little getting used to but was easy to overcome, I would think it would be the same. I don't remember off hand who said they weren't comfortable, actually I think it was more an opinion that they didn't look like they'd be comfortable. Not a big deal, just wanted some opininons from folks actually using them. Thanks again.

I had to change my clutch cable and brake line because I kept the 1" Jim's Spacers under my risers. If you just change the bars, everything works fine. btw, those pics on Brent's site showing the buckhorns? That's MY bike!!!!! Do I rock or what?!!?!?? OK, maybe not but I was stoked that he wanted to use my pics Also, the idea of using these buckhorns came from one of us. Goes by the name of ranger. Haven't heard from him in a long time....

I think Buckhorns are ok but handlebars are a personal preference kinda thing. Everyone has different likes and taste. Go with what you like and whats comfortable to you. I like the stock bars on the America. The stock bars on the America are very comfortable IMHO. My second choice would be buckhorns. I don't like drag bars but some love them. As far as ape hangers I think they stink but others like them for the look.

I thought that was your bike on Brent's site when you posted that pic in this thread.

I pondered buckhorns, apes and risers for months, almost years. I bought a set of mini apes and put them on. They looked good but weren't "right" Then I went to 4" risers still not sure, but, after fiddling a bit I got them in the best position and now everything is fine. It comes down to what suits you.
