Okay,
I recently had my tires changed from the stock bridgestones to metzlers and now I am feeling a slight "whurring" vibration between 15-23 mph while only in 2nd gear. I checked everything I could think of on my own and took it to my local dealer over the weekend. He could feel what I was talking about, but they could not find anything either. There suggestion was to ride the bike for aobut 500 miles to smooth in the new tires in case it was being caused by new tread. If the vibration was still present after that, the next thing they are going to check is the transmission bearings. Anybody have any ideas about this?

Chain alignment/tension.
I've had strange noises and vibration from time to time on my '03.
Didn't realize how much the alignment marks on the rear wheel were 'off' until I got a laser sight made for checking the chain alignment.
No more chain noise/ vibration.
Might be worth checking.
