I noticed on Pat's jetting calculator that there are different jet settings for the TORs with 1,2 or 3 baffles removed. My Long TORs are straight throughs with no baffles but what appears to be packing surrounding the center flow through section. Any idea what jets would be used on this? I'm running 125 mains, 1 shim on standard needles, 3.5 turns out and snorkel removed. Will be installing TBS needles when the weather gets better. Oh and long TORs as mentioned above.

I assume stock air filter?
128-130 would probably work. Jets are cheap enough to have a variety on hand. That's what I did to get mine dialed in.

I've had an '07 America for a few months now, long TOR's fitted by the dealer. The TOR's are indeed straight through with packing around the center pipe, debaffeling looks likley to be a real pain. (a), It's a long reach to machine/whack anything and (b), there's no half measure... Dealer took out the AI and fitted 125 mains. I've since de snorkled, fitted a Uni filter, bugg***d around with the screws and fitted TBS's with one shim. Mid range is good with the TBS's but I think the 125's are too lean, not by much but the plugs show almost no colouring and wot seems to be flat. Finally set the screw at 3 turns which seems okay.. Will be fitting 130's this weekend and in the meantime thinking of a set of tests that put a little measurement behind all the gut feeling i have to go by after each tinker... After that I'll probably by a better set of pipes, a freak and start all over again..... .. and there was the misses thinking of a new kitchen over the winter.

Tried the TBS needles with no shims and at the same time removed the rest of the snorkels and installed a brand new stock paper filter (had a spare). The unit had about the same acceleration as before but the popping increased on deceleration (leaner). Noticed a problem when cruising at 1/3 throttle at 90 to 100kph the unit would hunt a bit and at times feel like it was going to quit. Pulling the choke helped get rid of the problem so it appeared to be lean. Plugs remained white. I guess the TBS needles did not richen up the mixture in the mid range enough to make up for the reduction in intake restriction with the 3 snorkels removed. I installed the 130 mains tonight and left the TBS needles in with no shims and the unit is 100% better with no more hunting in the mid range. Acceleration is noticably better. Will drive it for a few more days then pull the plugs again. I may add a shim to the needles. It appears our long TORs have less restriction than stock TORs with baffles. I guess on Pat's calculator you could assume that our TORs with the packing around the center pipe are similar in restriction to baffled TORs with 2 baffles removed. Here is the current config 130 mains, 42 pilots, TBS needles no shims, 3 turns on idle screws, AI removed, all snorkles removed from air box, new paper filter. I'm waiting until next summer before the Freak goes in. Colder weather is on the way and my missus also wants the hardwood floors installed, and the counter tops, and the.....

This is encouraging because although we've started out differently, we're coming toward the same setting. The only thing I'd think more on would be fitting a free'r air filter. I fitted a Uni at the same time as dumping the snork and it made quite an improvement in pick up. I also fitted a rubber velocity stack from Jenks. Although, I'm not sure it makes much difference, it does look a lot neater. I know what you mean about the DIY... When my mates phone home my better half says "He's popped out for a ride on the new kitchen..." Warped sense of humour…

We're probably getting out of the relm of this post. One test to see if you are running lean is to get the unit on the cam (say at 100kpm in 5th) then apply full throttle for a couple of seconds then cut back to 7/8 throttle. If the unit seems to pull harder at 7/8, you are still too lean. The opposite, and you are too rich. Got this from the Mikuni manual on Pat's site. This test shows mine is still a bit lean with 130 mains. Still need to try a shim on the needles to see if this would correct it. "Popped out for a ride on the new kitchen...Hmmm" My better half would agree. I don't think she would feel she had a warped sense of humour also.

I love your wife's irony, you should have done that kitchen first and then there would have been NO animosity towards your 'second kitchen'!
Here's what you want to do first! (old pic):
btw, I think a shim is the right way to go...

Well the planning is over and the quotes have come back. I will be removing a wall in the kitchen, all cabinets, sink and counter tops, flooring and subfloor, all the carpets in dining and living rooms as well as the foyer. HER plan is to install hardwood throughout the main level, new oak cabinets, granite counter tops (GRANITE !!!!)sink and fixtures, lighting and change the kitchen layout, new windows, dishwasher and microwave/exhaust fan.... Lucky the fridge and stove are recent purchases.
Sigh.... I'm not riding the new kitchen, I'm riding... er.. the counter top. If I ever can afford a new bike, it will definitely be the kitchen. Maybe a decked out Rocket.
