I have had my 2005 Bonneville America for 8000 miles now and the bike is absolutely outstanding, I would not change a thing about it. This is my third Triumph in my lifetime, bought a used Thunderbird 650twin while in the Marines at 18yrs old, my second was a Bonneville 650 twin and now the Bonneville America. The current bike is comfortable and has no trouble keepin up with any bike my friends have including Harleys. Lot of chatter on this site about more cc's or more torque...if I had more on the bike I would probably need a pilots license. I am gratefull Triumph is still around and that I can still twist the throttle and feel 18 again. Semper Fi...Dennis B

True. All Black Speedmasters have an intrinsic performance edge on their otherwise colored cousins.
It not just a percieved discriminatory prejudice...its a scientifically noted fact.

Actually, the only performance modification necessary on a black Speedy is the addition of the "speed yellow" accent to the tank. Goes much faster that way...

Mine is black and red but the red is from the friction from going so fast!

Welcome to the site, Dennis. Don't mind these clowns around here. You know how it is! There's always got to be a few of 'em at these kinds of websites trying to turn every thread into a controversial subject just to get a rise out of somebody...unlike some of us more serious-minded individuals at BA.com. (BLACK, you say????!!!!!....oh, that's too bad....Those tend to be a might slower than the old Cardinal Red ones, ya know!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

You mean the newer ones are louder? The stock pipes on my '03 didn't sound like much of anything.

I agree with you Dennis. It's the best bike I have ever owned. I love em stock or loaded down with accessories. But the best accessory is my butt on the seat and a smile on my face.

I've toyed with ideas of "performance" mods on my BA, but after riding like she is for a year. I'm happy with the capabilities she came with. Only chanage has been the pipes. (had to get rid of that sewing machine sound) and AI out. Couple shiney things. But other than that shes bone stock and will stay that way.

It is a nice bike just the way it is with a seat replacement. That said let's go into the color thing one more time... don't listen to these guys about color and speed that's just sophomoric, because color is about that certain quality that just defines the bike and that's why black is the best. And don't listen to Dwight's response.

Same here, maybe a few more do-dads but I'm happy with the performance. And as far as color, nothing beats Coppertone.
Just an old Hippie and I don"t know what to do.

Sorry Ian, My 07 TBA is blue with white. And everyone knows that when metal glows white, it is far hotter than low temperature red. Coupled with the cool blue, symbolic of air, mine goes faster!!
Blue/White 2007 TBA, Thruxton needles, Unifilter, AI removed, Polaris Bellmouth, Bubs, Nology Coils/wires, Lightbar, Ricor Intiminators, Hagon Nitros, Tall Sissy Bar w/luggage rack, Dart flyscreen & Lowers. 130 Mains, TrueGel Battery MG12-BS.
