That is a funny shirt. "A gentleman does not motor about after dark" ~ Joseph Lucas
When I was at the ABFM, there were vendors selling vintage repair manuals for all the various vinatage British cars and bikes among all that was a Lucas catalog. The title was "Lucas Catalogue of Quality Electrical Equipment". Believe it or not it contained more than just the cover page.

I have a shirt that I bought at last year's 'Battle of the Brits' in the Detroit area that says 'Lucas - Get Home Before Dark'

THE DEFINITION OF FEAR
The two young astronauts sat strapped into their seats listening to the count down. It was approaching lift off 3-2-1 lift off! They were slammed back into their seats by the acceleration as they were checking their gauges this is what they saw. There among all the many gauges and switches was a small brass plate engraved with flowing script. “Electrics by Lucasâ€Â

"Apollo 13, read Houston."
-"Go ahead Houston."
"We need you to stir the oxygen tanks."
-"But Houston!!!"
"Apollo 13. Ignore that small brass plate engraved by the manufacturer of that switch, and just do it!"
-"Copy Houston."
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Tell me about it....My '72 T120 is kickin my butt...Im trying to install the original wiring harness, but not working out for me...seems the wires from the handlebar switches are WAY too long...looks like a replacement harness is in order, at a measly $150 or so...great...

Well spotted. It is indeed an E Type, or XKE as you like to call them over here.

The Jensen SP had louvers like that. So did the 6 cylinder Austin Healeys.

We can laugh about it now but back in the '60's when driving down the road at 60 at night and the headlight went out, well it should got your concentration.
Random thought: I remember sitting next to a guy in the '60's who was trying to kick start his Harley. He didn't get the kick start at top of compression and when he kicked down it back fired and blew his carb off. Ah, those were the days.

I remember my 67 650 bonneville, ran great when I got it. The first time I was confident enough to take it out at night, the headlamp went out 10 miles from home. What a harrowing 10 miles that was.. G

When I was a AC delco school the instructor told us everything electrical was built with smoke in it. Once you let the smoke out it is junk. I've made a lot of junk in my life.

That reminds me of when I took electronics in school. Our fav joke was too hook the 400V power supply to a steel lab stool and give the poor slob a joly. Was an all voltage and no amperage jolt. Used to charge up capacitors too for a mobile shocker.
