Jenks of Jenksbolts has the scoop at New Bonneville Delphi Forms. He posted a PDF with pics of the 2008 Bonnie with EFI, it's 909 cc. The 2008 Bonnie will be presented at the Paris bike show tomarrow, but the 2008 Bonnie at Three Cross Triumph will be for sale tomarrow at 9:00 AM.

This is the T-100 Bonnie, but if Triumph's resent past history tells us anything it tells us that the 2008 America/Speedmaster will be an EFI 909cc bike.

From everything I have read the 1500cc is still coming. There's been too many industry folks in the know that have written about it, at least in Britain. I doubt it will be named America or Speedmaster, I'm thinking Speedtwin.

At this point with the "sightings" and rumours about it the name should be Unicorn. I believe FJ first coined the phrase.

909! I guess if I'm keeping my 05 America, the BB is beginning to be a must to keep up with the "new" guys.

I am going to make a bold prediction: There will never be a 1500cc Vertical Twin manufactured by Triumph!, there I said it, haha
Triumph Scrambler Diablo Red & Silver (2014), Arrow Exhaust, FI remapped with TTP #4, 16 tooth sprocket, Triumph Gel Solo seat & Rack, Progressive 440 1" lowered Shocks, SAI & O2 Removal, Airbox Restrictor Plate removed.

If my memory serves me, weren't the first rumors of the RocketIII on this forum starting in the winter or early spring of 03. I think the original rumor had it at 2500 cc.
Question, at what time has the Triumph rumors got to this point and turned out to be not true?
Vertical twins, true Rocket, true Thruxton, true

Matt's link will take you to Jenks post.
You have to remember that dfifferent markets of the world gets models at different times. The post in question has to do with standard Bonnies. My point is that the 909 cc and EFI will evintually show up on the America/Speedmaster.

A few people have one now, and I have seen one. However I suspect that it may be an interim model because they ran out of stock speedy's in Australia back in May.

I wonder if they will up the compression ratio being the 909cc might be fuel injected. That would give it some more balls. It would be nice if it comes from the factory without having to do a bunch to it to get some power out of it .It would also be nice if you can hear the mufflers a tad .Please no potatoe stuck in the exhaust sounds or lack of any noise.

I was on the factory tour last week and shown the FI, it looks just like a set of carbs, also not all regions are going FI in 2008, just when regulations require it. They where building two types of twin, Carburated and FI and most of the carburated engines where being shipped out to Thailand for final assembly. no mention of an incresase in capacity.

NIbiker, I'd love to get a chance to check out the Triumph factory, you're lucky.
That said, check out Matts link above, Jenks has pics of a 2008 Bonnie showing the sensors, "carb" bodies with injectors, also a oil temp sender at the left banjo of the oil cooler. Download the PDF. Also he has some more info about HP and Torq gain if you follow the thread.
I have an America and Thruxton which is why I visit both sites. My only point was that from our pass experience with Triumph we can probably expect similar engine changes, with the exception of the crank, in the America/Speedmaster in the future.

When they do go to fuel injection on the twins, (it has to happen sometime) let us hope that it will make them run clean enough that they can return to proper valve timing so that better pipes and intake flow will actually do something.

If you change the pipes (or anything else) on a bike withe EFI, will you need a computer to re-map?

Yes. At least a chip change, and it may be a while before anyone has a PROM for it.

Unfortunatley I am at work now and cant open any attachments Reading further on down the thread Its still not so clear as to the size of the engine the 08 spec sheet says 865. Somebody has seen the injection on a standard bonnie and states the air injection is still fitted as well, I would have thought that with injection this would not be required. Perhaps it dosent work and is fake air injection to match the carbs

Looks like Mecatwin has a booth right across from Triumph. Convenient as one can see what the Bonnie is supposed to look like.

NI biker is Right on the money,My Dealer told me exactly the same, Europe & the States & most other places get EFI because thier regulations dictate it - Australia & New Zealand don't get EFI because apparently we haven't got the more stringent complience requirements that you blokes have got. So yes there are 2 differenct combos of the same model

Call me thick headed but that makes no sense. Two production lines, twice the part range. You're talkin a lot of overhead to build the same bike with two different carb/efi set up's. Unless this is a temporary deal until all current part inventories are exhausted.

Triumph build Tigers, Bonnevilles ( All versions ), Speed triples, street triples etc all on the one production line. There are two engine lines, one for Twins one for Triples. The engines are fed to the line as required be it a twin or a triple then the frame is fitted, sub frame wiring etc etc. so it would not make much difference if the engine had the FI or the carbs to the line.

i have a harley 883 custom at present. Several blokes on the xl forum have changed pipes without adverse or any reaction from having too lean a mixture. changin air filter will allow more air in which depending on how crude the ecu is (and a harley is very crude) then you will get problems with lean mixtures and very hot cylinders etc. Also the o2 sensors will prob be naroow band and only lean the mixture at certain rpms and throttle positions. hope this helps

It depends on how the computer get's it's info. If it has the right sensors in the right places it will know that it is breathing easier and add fuel or vis-a-versa.
