I heard it from a guy that heard it from another guy that heard it right from the Triumph CEO. Triumph is dropping the TWIN. They purchased the rights to this http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2006/05/10/radial-engine-powered-motorcycle/ and it will be the new Triumph line up for 2008.

I'd truly like to see that out-corner my Bonnie

Very close. You are both right and wrong. Triumph will drop the twin. This information actually coincides with the other 'rumors'(rumours). Here's how it all unfolds - The new mid-size will actually be a 1730cc and will not be a 'twin', but be a 'twin-twin' which will result from the mating of two 865cc verticle twins, joined front and back and have the forward headers exiting forward as they are now, and the rear twin exhaust exiting aft. The remaining exhaust system will be 4 into 2. The fuel delivery system will be FI and be mounted between the mated power plants, which will share a common gearbox. Cooling will be liquid and to minimize the wheelbase length and radiator size, Triumph has revolutionized the cooling system to include the frame - a la, old style oil-in-frame now becomes glycol- in-frame and will have a minimal and un-noticable radiator located under the seat which will have 'space-age' heat shielding (much like the space shuttle materials). The 'America' name will be dropped in favor (favour)of typical 'SPEED' related monikers. There will be three deviations; Speed Master (base model), Speed Demon - A drag inspired version, and Speed Freak, a top of the line model that is completely designed and equiped by the individual buyer and will include touring related choices. Many of the Speed Freak options will be available as add-on accessories for the remaing models. So, there you have it.

Radial eh? If it wasn't for all that crazy brushed aluminum, it might be reaching for the WWI dogfighter vibe...
Can I have a Triumph with a radial engine and a .50 Vickers mounted over the handlebars?

I really LOVE all these imaginative, un-documented, lacking-in-proof rumors. I do believe I even started one of them myself. Just shows how much anticipation is there for a bigger bike.

Maybe they will also use a common cylinder casting and call it an Ariel?
