Well here is a pic of my 2003 SM. I have been on the site for a while and never posted a pics of my bike. I have added the BA seat, sissy bar, BB reproduction bags, changed out the tank badges, and long TOR pipes. I am removing the AI within the next few weeks since I havent yet. I have a list of things to consider and any opinion is appreciatted Proposed changes: 1. Remove airbox and add k&n pods. With this scenario I would relocate the battery as brokenfixed did. 2. Freak kit...I am a cheap a$$ so #1 one looks better to me. Plus I like the clean look it creates with the battery sidecovers and cheesegraters gone. 3. Of course jet. With TOR, and removed airbox what jet sizes would you suggest? 4. Headlight extender kit from Brent 5. Wiring through bars or maybe turn signal relocation kit from brent 6. Fork gaiter and kneepads 7. Pipe wrap on headers 8. Some sort of change to the peg hangers....the originals are ugggggggggggly if you ask me. Anyways feel free to comment or just look and not comment. I just enjoy posting...... Steve

Very nice, really dig those saddle bags.

I would forget the headlight extender all that is is a block of aluminum, easy to make. Just my opinion but the open look like brokenfixed wouldn't look good with bags and backrest.
Lose the mirrors for something a little better looking.
wire through the bars is easy, cheap, and cleans up the bars nicely.
I don't think header wrap is a good idea from a heat aspect and someone mentioned a smell I think , although didn't notice any smell from brokenfixeds pipes.
For cheap you could keep the stock look and cut the air box and just get the K&N pods , instant freak and save the money.
Nice bike, same color as mine.

Yeah i have been thinking ghetto freak also. I would want another airbox to cut since with my luck (as you saw with Dads bike) something will go wrong.
After your comment I looked at the pic of my bike.....I beleive you are right. Unless you are going with a bob look the open look probably wouldnt look good with what I have on there. I may black out the cheese graters and dash as another option.
I was only thinking header wrap due to the blueing where i havent removed the AI yet. If I get it removed soon it wont get any worse and I can live with it.
Thanks for the input.

The blacked out stuff you mention would look good maybe even with blacked out pipes.
Floor boards take some getting used to but I like the freedom of movement I get when I ride Wendys bike with them on.

Thanks Ian.....Flat black paint on the whole exhaust system and blacking out the other stuff.........may be the way I go.
How much do you figure you have to rough up the chrome for the paint to stick????

just enough to take the shine off that gives something for the paint to adhere to. BBQ black works pretty well if you want to go cheap.

you probally dont want to paint them, get them powder or cermaic coated. It will handle the heat a lot better.

BBQ black handles exhaust heat easily and more but it is paint so not as durable as what Matt suggests. You could look for Barrel Paint too thats another spray paint that is designed to paint air cooled cylanders.

sharp bike there,,, but if it was me though I say rid the two tone paint job for a flat black one and lose the triumph logo on the tank , get the low seat and pillion set from speedmaster parts .com,, toss the nasty steel front wheel thats painted to match the nice aluminum rear wheel nd change to spoke wheels with flat black spokes and rims,, take off the reflectors on the sides of the forks, get slightly higher bars and lose the mirrors for bar end mirrors, lower that sissy bar and down size all the blinkers.. and might as well lower the whole bike and make the suspension alot stiffer than stock triumph.. maybe a front spoiler, big bore kit with a NOS sneaky pete kit.. everybody's different but this would make me love my Speedmaster more than I love Harleys,,, if your happy with your bike then it can't get any better cause everybody is different.
don't wait for other people, Just do it!

Tajue.....
Input is appreciatted. But none of it will be utilized except for taking off the reflectors.
If I had enough money to do all those changes then I would have two bikes so that I could lower, bob, paint, bore etc.
PS. Sell your Speedmaster if you dont like it. Someone else would appreciatte it for the wonderful machine it is

Thanks for battery relocation compliments....I do agree with Ian about it not going with the look of your bike...the saddle bags and all that. BUT..ahah...if youre gonna wrap the heads and black out the pipes, it sounds like youre breaking the mold anyway. So you might as well give the relocation another thought and see what happens.
BREAK THE MOLD...FIGHT THE POWER!!
Oh, my pipes were powdercoated with hi-temp stuff, and after about 2500miles right now, theyre a little faded and not so black anymore. So powdercoating is not always the best option. I plan on doing a coat of bbq black, and seeing how that works out.

The bottom line is that you have to do what you will like. It is your bike and you are the only one that needs to be happy with it.

I "may be" a little biased but you started off with the best color scheme for this bike. My first accessory was knee pads, Triumphs just have to have them in my "opinion"! But they are a relativly inexpensive add on too.

I agree I like the color and I also like the chrome but like Soren said it is your bike and you need to do what you want to make it yours. If you like it thats what matters. Now do what I said!

Yeah heres a confession....I once wanted to put a soft brown leather messanger bike type of saddle bag on one side of my bike so it'd match my seat. Thats not particular with my style of bike exactly, but i thought it'd be pretty cool..i just never found the right bag to do it.

Thanks guys......I am starting out with kneepads (snekeptp has a set for cheap!!) and gaiters. Then blacking out the pipes with BBQ paint...again CHEAP. Get the way i am going with this....
The more I can change for cheap the more likely the wife would let me get the freak if I wanted it. OR maybe powdercoat the wheels.........
ok my brain is hurting trying to figure it out what all i want to do. Gonna take one step at a time and see what I like and what I dont.
Thanks for all the input guys!

I want to powder coat my wheels eventually. What about wrapping the fork shrouds with leather. I plan on doing that to Wendys if I don't polish them. A member here did it and I like it.

I saw that too......really liked the look. Wonder if they made them or had them made. My Dad used to have a leather kit....could put grommets in it etc. and make anything you wanted.
Know where you can but the kit or the wraps?

I talked to him and if I remember correctly he said he made them. I actually just went to the Salvation Thrift Store todat and bought a black leather purse and a black leather jacket for the leather. Cost me $20 when all I could find anywhere wlse was 8" squares for $9.
