After looking a number of posts and listening to the audio files, I have pretty much decided on the Stebel Nautilus Compact horn. (Unless I can be convinced otherwise).

Question to anyone that has installed this horn: Where did you locate it and did you have to manufacture any brackets?

Mounted it in the same place as the stock and used the stock bracket. Just turned the bracket clockwise some. Phil
Horn is worth it.

As above. Don't neglect to use the provided relay unless you like the smell of melting plastic. Assuming you (like everyone else) have removed the AI, the mounting bracket for the AI pump makes a conveniant mounting point for the relay.

Seeing one of Bennybmn's pictures put the idea in my head to locate my Stebel under my set. When I installed my Freak this last spring I also installed the Stebel and an alarm system. I had to move the starter solenoid from the normal Freak location and cut the metal tabs off the Freak kit (sorry Brent) to make room for the horn.

I removed the stock horn and extended those wires to actuate the Stebel relay. I did cannibalize some of the stock air box to make two brackets. One for the starter solenoid that is now mounded right behind the right K&N filter attached to the Freak bracket. The horn is mounted with a tab from the air box fender mount, a long bolt and some tubing of a spacer. The Freak tool box even fits under there. Everything is a little snug under there but I can get to easily and the horn is still plenty loud.

If you mount it in the front, you will need a new bolt and lock washers. Get rid of the rubber plug. You need to get the relay and heavy guage wire. The relay can mount where the AI used to be. If you have the screw saved you can reuse it. The original horn wires reach the relay. I would recommend getting a black fuel line hose for the air intake. It tucks nicely under the tank with some zip ties.

I went under the seat also. It's plenty loud there.

Mounted mine in place of the stock horn. Needed nothing additional and it works great!

A fellow Vermonter making a wise choice! I tried mine out yesterday. At 60 MPH, with music playing in earphones, I could still hear it. Nice and loud!!

As a note my mechanic advised me to move it as it MAY interfer with airflow to the oil cooler. I think that at speed it will get all the air it needs.

You can mount it up in the original position, if you want.
