This bike bashing stuff is childish and makes you look insecure.

Thats funny. I must tell all my Harley riding buddies that the reason they take the p1ss out of my 'Little Triumph" is because they are childish and insecure.

Well there is a BIG difference between good natured ribbing between buddies and a thread (and subsequent replies) started to bash a make of bike on a forum dedicated to serving another make of bike.

I'm just saying....

I agree with you. I have been known to bash the odd HD, but like you say. It is meant as harmless fun. I dont have any dislike for any brand. I like them all, just happen to like some more than others.

I certainly don't think started out as pure bashing as some are insinuating... I was providing a review of my 200+ mile experience on an HD that I was NOT impressed with.

Uhmmmm....

That's my point. It comes across as childish to some who don't define themselves by the make of bike they ride.

I am also involved in some good natured Hardly (ooops) bashing with some of my friends. But this is my experience. A good many of the Hardly(ooops again) riders have an attiude about other bikes where as most of the Trumpet riders I know are into Trumpets and all other kinds of machines. It's just true, Trumpet riders are cooler people.

And my point is some hardlys and the brainwashed sheep that ride them deserve to be bashed. Some of the most ignorant statements I have heard from hardly owners:

1.Its not a real Triumph.
2.I bought a Hardly because I could afford it.
3.Yes but its a Hardly.
4.Hardly is the only motorcycle a real American should buy.

This attitude seems to be about 70% of current Hardly owners.

yes and no. I know quite a few HD riders. They tend to get a group mentality at times I think. If you talk to them one on one they are not as likely to bash other bikes. One of my best frinds is a 1%er covered in tatoos and a patch bearer. He says he would ride my BMW and likes it. The old 64 R/50 I have. He also likes the Brit bikes. The same goes for most of the HD guys I know. 90% of the bashing I hear is just good natured ribbing. Like was said above I think the tribe mentality plays into it and the ones who don't get it and are nasty about it are the rubs (now that I know what that is )

hey, I didnt bash em. I kinda like some of them, and some of my friends ride them. but one individual on one talked trash, and I got the chance to show him about triumphs. on the other hand, maybe it is insecure, but amongst friends you never bust on their ride? if so, your friends are different from mine..

I never wanted to lead, and I never wanted to follow. I just wanted to ride.

LOL.

People are people. It doesn't matter if you are talking about bikes, trucks, or whatever. You are going to have a certain group that uses their (fill in the blank) to indentify themselves. The use of another kind of (fill in the blank) by another is a threat to thier identity and to their ego as only they know what is best.

My experience with the only three Triumph owners I know personally is that they have the chip on their shoulders. I want to talk bikes and trips and such and I am always met "the Harley guys" type comments from them. Not in a good way either. Coincedentally all of them put maybe a thousand miles on their bikes in a year.

I've met and road across the country with some of the dozens of "Harley guys" met on a forum just like this one. Not one of them gives a crap about what you are riding.

I guess it comes down to who you hang with.

I bet if you took a poll of the Harley guys with an attitude most of them got their first bike at 40+ years old fulfilling a life long dream. Real bikers don't give a crap what the next guy is riding.

****** yea,

I bust on my friends all the time and they give it right back.

That's different then an internet forum though, no?

All in all it's not that big a deal to me. I know who I am and what I am. You can call me names (not that anyone here has done that) and label me because of what kind of bike I ride. I won't hear much of it over my pipes as I ride on down the road. I'll still pull over and offer help if I see you on the side of the road.

All I can say is that I was surrounded by Harleys of every description yesterday and every HD rider I met was very complimentary. There was a crowd oogling the black and chrome Rocket at the other end of the parking lot, too. Maybe I just didn't meet the asshats...
