Has anyone tried the streetboogie shock mounts to lower their bike? I was wondering if the damper angle change will have an effect on ride and handling. I was also un-sure how much of the fender needs to be cut when the bike is lowered. They said that the chain guard will interfere with the fender once the bike is lowered. It also lowers the bike 2.5" which seems quite a bit. I was wondering if there was a way to lower it less.

Thanks.

Charlie

not sure about that product. some have it. you could also have your shocks cut down at www.sotmc.com, that's who did mine, they also powder coated them.. or you could go with a shorter shock from progressive...

One member(don't remember who) moved his shock mounts to lower his bike. If you do a search you should be able to find the thread.

Where can these streetboogie shock mounts be purchased? I would be interested in knowing what the difference in ride quality is between getting those or getting the shocks cut at sotmc. I had my shocks chopped 2" and my bike rides like a brick.

I'm afraid of that happening too. I don't think cutting the shock, thereby limiting the travel is the answer. Angling the shock will make it's response to damping different too..

Tinman, I tried doing a search, but could not find it. I wonder if he might read this and respond.

Boogieman here. Changing the lower shock mount angle rearwards (more towards horizontal) actually softens the effective action of the shock by lengthening the lever effect of the swing arm. We found thru trial and error that setting the shock one notch up on the setting produces a very nice ride. Roper rides the custom more than I. He's 6'-4" and 250#. He has had only one incident with the lowered set-up. Hit a pot-hole at 65-70 mph and the fender edge over the chain guard made contact. Didn't effect ridability at all. We simply straightened the guard back into place when we got home.
Lowering the bike obviously isn't for everyone. Naturally, these issues must be considered. We simply offer a less expensive alternative to costly shocks for the same results.
