Has anyone looked at alternatives for the speedmaster knee pads from Triumph, and what other Triumph knee pad shape and application might work for the speedmaster/america gas tank?
I have a hard time spending $50+ for OEM, and I'm not a fan of our local dealer. I see a lot of knee pads for older model Triumphs on eBay, and I have to think that some are pretty close. Any experience out there to share with this cheap skate?
I see a chrome bike and I want to paint it black.

Sledder, Let me know what you find. I'm interested in the alternatives as well. See you have a CB500...I have a CB750 cafe racer that I realy enjoy when I'm in the "twistie" mood.

Argh, hurry up Tom! The 500 is fun too, but after the Speedie, it feels like a moped.

My knees dont' even come close to those kneepads, so I just cut some plastic (what they sell in the M/c store for racing numbers) and put that on... you've got to look pretty close to tell... just to help keep scratches off, tho... not as pretty as the kneepads, but, oh well... Mary

Yeah, my only problem is that I hate to scratch the tank, and I find my knees close some times. Not that big of a deal, but over long rides, it irritates. Plus, I think the bike looks much nicer with them on. Maybe I just need to quit being cheap...

My idea is probably not what youre looking for. Its more for looks and not for the padding or scratch proofing that youre probably looking for.
Ill post it when its done...ahha
