I had a Touring Screen fitted to my America yesterday. The buffeting is so bad that it shakes my helmet and blurs my vision at 60+ mph. Is it just me or has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it is my Nolan N102 lid that is causing the issue.

Seems that with screens, sometimes you may have try out several to find the one that works best for you. A lot of it depends on your size and how you sit in the saddle. I doubt it has much to do with your helmet. I forget who it is around here, but it seems he tried like four different screens before he found one that worked for him.

You didn't mention what screen you have or how tall you are. I bought the Triumph Summer Screen and it did the same thing. I'm 6' tall and the buffeted wind hit me right in the face. It was far worse than no screen. I replaced it with a Clearview shield that fits the Triumph hardware and couldn't be happier. The Clearview is taller and better designed.
If you have the Triumph Touring screen, it may also be too short for your height. Clearview makes replacements for those as well. If you place a level yard stick on top of the screen while sitting on the bike, it should hit you between your mouth and nose which should put the wind to the top or above of your helmet.

It may be that you also need lower screens to mitigate the buffeting. Try tipping the screen rearward slightly as a test to see where the buffeting forces originate.

I guess you can adjust the tilt using the lower fitting points, there isn't much adjustment but it may be enough to change the situation.

I got a National Cycle F-15 on my Speedmaster.Had to make it fit though .Came up with my own brackets.I made it mount so I could adjust it somewhat. The Triumph screens were to much $$$ for me.Had another National Cycle on there first.I really liked it better as far as looks.A friend traded me for this one.It gives more protection and is actually thicker plastic. The first one was dark tinted and black.I think they use to advertise it bolted onto an SV650 Suzuki.Good luck.

Here is the link to the Clearview site for the Summer Screen. If you are 6' or under the 17" is fine. If you're taller than 6', you may need the taller one. The Mulberry/Graphite America in the pictures is my bike. Go with the light tint as it looks more invisible than the clear. I've been very happy with mine. Clearview Shields

Plly not your helmet, but... Same thing seems to happens with other brands of bikes, too. the Yamaha FJR screen goes up and down electrically and tiltis backwards at the same time. But the rider 6' and over get buffeting. some of thier swcreens are 3-4 inches taller and wider. I was fine with the stock screen, but i'm pnly 5'6". And look in a Harley accessory catalogue and see how many different screens and sizes they offer...<BG> My Triumph has a Memphis shades screen. It's pretty good, didn't notice much buffeting just riding, but did notice a lot of buffeting when passing or being passed by semi's. No screen was a bit better for buffeting, but more tiring sitting straight in the wind. The only thing I don't like is that the screen is crazed(tiny cracks) but that's pbly from the type of plastic. You may have to try several. Mary

I have the Lowers from Fast Eddy (GREAT guy to work with) and they stopped a lot of the air coming up from around the tank. I'm very happy with them.

I must admit, I'm a bit p*s*ed with the dealer for not advising me of this issue, seems to be a common complaint regarding the Triumph stock screens. Still I guess the moral of the story is "Before you ponce 250GBP on a screen, ask your friends at the B.A.F. for some advice first!". As we say "Lives and Learns". Now then... who knows anything about Triumph Long Slash-Cuts ....

Paul, I tried to wear a Nolan one time. Just this past January I rode home from Daytona and had the worst headache and was fit to be tied. I returned the helmet and got an HJC. Nolans fit round heads better.
The windscreen issues.
I have both a Roadster Screen and a Summer Screen. They both are leaning up against the wall in my closet. Living in Florida, I don't ride in the conditions that demand a screen. Cold weather! Both screens buffet. If you ride above posted speeds the screens buffet bad. I guess the summer screen is a lolly gag "I don't have anywhere to be in a hurry" type of screen. I put 2300 miles on one in a week and was ready to see how it flew (frisbee style).
Times I wish I could conjure up a screen: Raining Cold Buggy nights Dirt roads following someone
That brings to mind something about the "Summer Screen": What is the point? Summer time is HOT! The screen keeps the air off of you so why have one at all?
Screens. The compromisial buffet.
P.S.: That black rubber edging that fits on the perimeter of the screen will help lessen the buffeting.

Does Clearview make brackets for the TBA?
No, you have to start with the Triumph screen and mounting brackets. Clearview only makes the replacement plastic.
I'm ready for a removable screen like the Memphis Shades Fats/Slims but can't determine if they will work with the Triumph light bar.
