Won a pair of custom long cannons from Chevy605 on eBay earlier this week, got home today and they were at my door. Popped them on with a little hi-temp RTV and took them for a test...they sound great! Nice deep throaty rumble, good growl when you get on the throttle, but not so loud that I'm going to make the neighbors hate me (okay maybe when I leave for my unit PT at 5 in the morning...but otherwise...)
Highly recommended.

Don't need pics, they're just gutted TOR's. I also got a set of gutted long TOR's from the same guy off of ebay. I love the sound and they seem to be working with my set up, I'm putting out 68rwhp so they can't be hurting my power output.

I bought those too, he does a good job on them. Those are how I learned what was inside the pipes to start doing my own. I had to remove the last baffle they still weren't loud enough for me.

I should put some up anyway...though if you happen to see a black/mulberry TBA at the Cedar Hills mall today with WA Army vet plates, that's me.

I almost forgot the pipes I bought are the cannon type. He takes the tapered pipes and cuts the end off just past where it starts to taper and then guts them leaveing the last baffle with 3 holes drilled in it. I say again he does a very good job but now I do my own. If you don't have the tools or skills they are well worth it. He says no need to rejet but I would.

I got a pair of "Chevy605's" just in case I get cited for my D&D's here and Denver and they make me go back to "stock pipes." Slipped them on and rode around one day, wasn't real thrilled, but then 1) I'm used to D&D's, and 2)there's still a lot more that could be taken out of the pipes. And, like Ian, I think they'll be a good start when I want to start figurin' out for myself how to get baffles out/ drill them etc.

I also just bought a set of Chevy605's and haven't received them yet. I have a new 07 TBA and don't like the look of the tapered pipes. The ones I bought from Chevy605 are the long, slash-cut ones from a speedmaster and I think they are much nicer looking.
I was thinking about keeping the stock pipes, but I don't really have a use for them and like I said, I don't like their look, so I'll take him up on the $75 core charge and return them to him.

In terms of "loudness", how would you rate them (scale of 1-10 or in relation to other pipes)? And I am not looking for a lecture on people's perception of loudness.
Many thanks, Ceuls

I have heard the ones on SSGRex's bike. On a scale of 1-5, I would say 3. You can hear them, but still hear the cam chain. Overall, they have a good full sound to them.

Correct me if I am wrong.
When you purchase a set, are they a lower price if you send your current pipes to him and higher price if you don't?
Are your own pipes then modified and sent back to you, or are you sent someone elses modified pipes?
Thanks again, Ceuls

Well it works one of two ways... First, you paypal him what you won it for, plus $75 which you get back when he gets your old pipes in the mail - he even sends you a prepaid UPS label to stick on the box his pipes came in to send yours. That's what I did. The other way is that you send him your pipes first, he works on them, and sends them back - I'm thinking that he still sends you a prepaid label but I'm not sure. The pipes I got are long cannons (still with the Triumph engraved label), first two baffles removed and third one opened, sounds way better than stock but not ******-off-the-neighbors loud. No more Jetsons flying car sound, and I can even set off car alarms in the parking garage.

My neighbors get mad about my Chevy605 pipes. We kind of have a deal right no though, if I can be off my block before they can make it out of their house to yell at me I don't have to listen to them

That would be the EPA. Federal law says the pipes must not emit above 80 db at 3712 rpm. Modifications are also prohibited by federal law.

Just got my Chevy605's in and installed them right away. They sound awesome! Deep rumbling without being too loud. In fact, I can't imagine running pipes any louder. They are perfect. I was planning on recording the sound and posting it online, but the dmahn sound clip is exactly what mine sound like. http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/audio_video/dmahn.wavAlso, Chevy605's workmanship is above reproach. The pipes look brand new. Not a scratch on them and they were very well packed. Looking through from the header end I immediately saw that the catalytic converters had been removed. Some people have said that you can see through them, but that hints at them being straight pipes. Instead, when you first look through them you can see light, but you have to tip them at angles to see through to the other end. They appear to have two offset baffles in them with holes drilled around one of them. Whatever, they are perfect for me. They satisfy the letter of new Denver ordinace (if not the spirit) as they are factory pipes with the EPA approval stamped into the chrome, but their sound is very good. Gives the bike a whole new attitude. I met a guy recently who was running sceptre pipes on an '05 speedy and setting the scale of his sceptre pipes at ten in loudness, I'd say these were a six or seven, and the stockers would be at about two. I would imagine that some of the fishtails and straight pipes I have heard would be around fourteen or fifteen. Chevy605 is running another auction on the "cannon" type pipes, which are the factory BA tapered pipes with about six inches cut off of the end just behind where the taper starts, and the rest of the pipes modified like the ones I just got. http://cgi.ebay.com/?ViewItem&item=150169209930For the price and workmanship - not to mention the fact that the pipes are "factory" and stamped with the EPA approval - they are the best pipes for the money in my not so humble opinion. By the way, I applied new sealant to the pipes and made sure the clamps were properly aligned, and I have no popping on deceleration or any other adverse effects. They smoke a bit, but he sent a letter explaining that the smoke is from the machining oil he uses while cutting. it should burn off in no time.

Stamp. or no stamp, those pipes are altered, hence illegal by federal law. I run Bubs, no stamp, no care. Not loud unless you really get on it. Still quieter than 80%HD's.

Yes. You are absolutely correct. But I am not talking about Federal EPA standards, only the Denver city ordinance passed this spring. It states that the pipes must be stock and have an EPA stamp on them. My pipes satisfy that law.
That's why I said they satisfy the "letter" of the law, if not the "spirit" of the law.
Here are a couple of links to articles about the new law...
http://cbs4denver.com/seenon/local_story_155214432.html
http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=29246
and a snippet talking about the EPA labeling requirement for motorcycle exhaust...
Quote:
On June 4, Denver officials approved changes to the city's vehicle noise ordinance that allow police to issue tickets to riders if their bikes don't have a federal Environmental Protection Agency sound-certification label on the exhaust systems. The new ordinance, which takes effect July 1, would apply to all motorcycles made since 1982, which was the first year that federal law required motorcycles sold in the U.S. to comply with EPA sound regulations.
In practical terms, that means the bike would have to have the original exhaust system installed by the manufacturer. Violators would have two weeks to prove to a judge that they have fixed the problem or would be forced to pay a $500 fine.
Previously, the Denver ordinance required all motor vehicles to pass a sound test that set a limit of 80 decibels at 25 feet. That type of performance standard remains in effect for cars and trucks, except that the allowable limits have been raised. Under the new ordinance, vehicles with a gross weight rating under 10,000 pounds couldn't exceed 82 db(A) at 25 feet, and trucks over 10,000 pounds couldn't exceed 90 db(A) at 50 feet. Only motorcycles would be subject to the EPA sound certification labeling requirement.
And here is a quote from a police officer about how they enforce the law.
Quote:
"It's real simple to enforce. The officer determines that it's louder than what most motorcycles sound like based on their experience and training, they initiate the traffic stop, they inspect the motorcycle pipe. If it doesn't have the EPA stamp, they're in violation," Pelloni said.
The story that came from is here.
http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=73328
So you see; my pipes, while louder than the 80db soecified by the EPA, is in full compliance with the letter of the law in Denver.

Yesterday afternoon I had my bike in the driveway and it was idling with the choke on, so running kinda fast. I saw my neighbor across the street come out of his house and he was getting into his truck. I walked over and asked him if he thought my pipes were too loud and he said, "no, they sound great!" The back end of the pipes were pointing at him at he time, and he was across the street. Although, since he is an Air Force Pilot, maybe he has a warped sense of loud.
