Either my skull whack has given me ESP or I have become a more thougthful rider.
Coming home today:
Going through residential area.Typical American midsized middleclass neighborhood, white picket fences 2 car garages, you get the picture.
Doing about 35 or so, look up ahead, pickup truck pulling a trailer in oncoming lane, turns on his right turn sig, I say to self "Ok self he's no threat" but I get the "feeling" that as soon as he starts to turn into his drivway, the shmuck in the SUV behind him, is goona swing out into my lane to go around him. Thought if that happens I'll dive as far to my right as I can with out hitting the curb and ride it out.
BINGO.... truck starts turn,,shmuck (in this case a shmuckette) swings out into my lane, I make my planned move, Shmuck sees me (finally) gets this "OH SH**" look on her face and manages to give me enough room to get through with about 6 inches to spare.

Good goin', Jackson!!! This, unfortunately, is the kind of "ESP" that often only comes with years of experience. (BUT, look at it THIS WAY...If you didn't recognize this "accident waitin' to happen" to ya, at least now that you're wearing a helmet you'd be able to remember and "enjoy" that very cool helicopter ride THIS TIME maybe, HUH?!!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

The folks that crash are the folks that just "la la" down the road without a care ( or thought ) . Good call , pays to THINK about what the other folks are going to do . You got nothing else to do , might as well THINK AND ride . The SHMUCKETTE needs to be SHMACKED .

Good to hear that mate but i don't think it's got anything to do with ESP, just bloody good riding ability and tons of experience - after all the spills I've heard about lately, it's good to hear something positive. I'll bet she wont try that manouvre again Hoffo

You know...I've heard some of my pilots say "Good judgement comes from experience...experience comes from bad judgement".
I like that one. That being said, I hate the fact that most people anymore have no clue what DRIVING is. Lazy idiots get in their cars with automatic everything and 14 kill/maim devices known to the industry as "airbags", turn on said auto, and steer it to their destination - assuming nothing out of the ordinary happens. DRIVING is having control of your vehicle, knowing what's going on around you, and knowing your vehicle's - and your! - limits and capabilities. And being able to instinctively react (appropriately) in an emergency situation. I would probably extend that theory to motorcycle riders...the numb***s (ahem numbskulls!) that get on their brandnew ricerockets and point it and twist are just like the car steerers. OneI, I'm glad that you're in the other category - here's to your kind, and may you all encounter drivers rather than steerers in your travels. (PS much more enjoyable driving/riding in Germany - they know DRIVING)

That is the way I try to ride all the time. I am always thinking the what if's. What if this idiot does this or what if that idiot does that. I always try to make sure to make eye contact with people pulling out of side streets and driveways. Watch the tires to see if they are rolling or stopped. Look for heads in cars parked on sides of the road. There will always be the unexpected one or the one you don't see. You just hope and pray you can react in time and that there is somewhere to go.
My mind and body are still out of tune
I hope they run into each other real soon "

Jack, I'm getting you a dozen glow in the dark plastic Jesuses for your headlight bucket. Bungee 'em on there like a radial airplane engine. I was on the way home yesterday from a military funeral in Fishkill, and at a stop light, a truck to my left was making a right turn. The idiot behind the truck blew through the red light about 3 full seconds into my green. I was a bit logy from standing a flag line in the 90 degree heat, and having just finished three very large slices of pizza pie, and so was very slow off the line. Had I launched at first green... Just another day on a motorsicle

Nice move, you have to be on your guard constantly and always have an escape plan. A friend and I were in a country town a few months back, at a set of lights we pulled up behind this old guy in an equally aging car. I don't know what it was but I remember say to my friend "watch this guy". We left the intersection, turning right and sure enough he drove around in the passing land way under the limit for around 400m, then he put on his hazard lights on. I guess you just get a sense for these people..but soccer mums scare me the most.
...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

If that's not the #1 cause of crashes, it's real close. People just can't seem to grasp the idea that "can't see" is not the same as "nothing there".
