"[The Festival]offers a unique opportunity to see and experience incomparable racing machines—spanning the memorable pre-World War II classics, through the popular sports racing and GT cars of the late 1940s and 1950s, to the more modern racecars of the 1960s and ’70s. [Vetts, Mustangs, AC Cobras, and so on]

Cars racing at the Rolex Vintage Festival represent a “Who’s Who” of manufacturers from Alfa Romeo, Allard, Bentley, BMW, Brabham, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lola, Lotus, Maserati, MG, Porsche, Shelby, Triumph and more.

Highlights:

* More than 200 vintage & historic automobiles in nine race groups
* The Elite Concours Presented by Road & Track; Lime Rock’s traditional Vintage & Historic Car Show
* Rolex Moments In Time exhibit—featuring noteworthy race cars, manufacturers and racing legends from the glory days of motorsports.
* Midway displays, a vintage swap meet, and a special BMW exhibit"

We rode up a few years ago on Sunday. No Racing on Sun in Limerock so cars were lined up on the track on display. Also about a dozen bike, with 4 or 5 Triumphs.
I think I saw something in Road Bike Magazine that they are planing a ride up from Danbury area again this year.
You planing on going?

Yep - I go every year without fail. It's kind of like the East Coast Mecca for gear heads. The promo copy plays up the imports & exotics, but the US iron is equally well represented, from the 1900s forward. There are often some extremely rare cars there, such as prototypes from years past. One post prototype that comes to mind was a 196? Shelby Cobra Mustang rag top, serial number 0003 - the first to be sold to the public. There's usually one day where every year of authentic AC Cobra is represented as well. If the weather is right*, the display vehicle turnout is spectacular.

The other annual event I rarely miss is one you're probably familiar with: The Antique Machinery Show at the Sloan Stanley museum in Kent. If one hasn't seen a steam tractor in motion, they're really missing something.

I'll put a post up for that when the time comes.

I'm waiting to see how the Berkshires ride shapes up to then pick a day for Lime Rock.

*Jut checked NOAA's web site - weather is called for sunny & 70s through Monday. Yee-hah!

I did this event a couple of times when I was racing my bugeye. Amazing turnout of beautiful race cars in action, and getting to rub elbows with Paul Newman and folks like that. Great weekend

I never wanted to lead, and I never wanted to follow. I just wanted to ride.
