I am soooo gutted!

Only got to the end of my road and lost balance while stationary. Tried to keep the bike up but failed.

Managed to lie her down rather than drop her but the result is a snapped clutch lever.

Do I have to get one from Triumph dealer or are there aftermarket levers that are more attractive? Also as a complete novice, is it an easy job to replace them?

Help me guys.

Very easy to change. I saw some cool skull levers at J&P Cycles with skulls for the balls at the end of the lever. I think they will work from the measurements I got but haven't actually spent the $20 to find out yet.

+1 just be sure to mind the wee kill switch next to the pivot pin.

Go easy on yourself there Paul, there are not many people around that have not dropped a bike while standing still.
Or coming to a stop. Just try not to do it too often, it gets expensive.

Two weeks after I got the bike, I got off it and walked away-just forgot to put down the kick stand. The people standing around were greatly amused.

It happens. I heard about a guy who got his new Hardley Ultra delivered to his house(it was raining. First day he was moving it and it feel over and crushed his ankle-a clutch level is nothing.

I replace my alumnium levers with the chrome ones-they are expensive but look great and have a good feel.

Don't beat yourself up - Within a few miles I went to get off mine without putting the stand down when I parked outside my dealers - luckily I managed to keep it from touching the ground before 2 onlookers came over and helped me back upright. Incredibly embarressing... especially when I realised everyone in the shop was also watching my antics...

I've found though that I'm highly unlikely to do it again now

I am beginning to feel better with the support and realisation that I am not the only one!

Priced the lever today and it will cost £22.80. I will attempt to fit it myself and only hope I don't do any more damage in the process.

Thanks everyone.

If it's any help to make you feel better:

After a month of owning the 06 I was tired after work. I went out to the bike and got on to go home. I had only just had the alarm fitted, but was still using a disk lock.

Forgot to take the lock off....

One new speedo cable, new caliper hanger bracket and one bent (but not broken) clutch lever.

The bent lever is stil on...

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

First time out to a Biker meet on my BA I pulled onto the crowded parking lot and found a place at the end of a line that was on a double slope, (front and left uphill), so the kick stand was on the high side of the slope. I put the kick stand down and got off.

The bike drew the attention of the cruiser fraternity, several of whom began to walk over for a closer look.

As soon as I got off the bike, it started to slide downhill. Luckily I was standing close by taking my helmet off and I was able to grab the front brake and keep hold of my helemet without dropping either.

I looked around feeling a bit stupid but my fellow gentlemen bikers all semed to be looking in other directions. A few discrete minutes later they came over and not a mention of my error.

Like the old tale of a guy walking into a shower room discover a naked lady already in there. to save her blushes he says "Sorry mate" and closes the door.
