Does anyone have a suggestion for steel replacment fenders? Was the reason for plastic fenders just cost or is there some advantage? In my mind plastic is for dirt bikes and sport bikes...not cruisers.

One thing I have learned from my time here is that Triumph has provided you with a canvas upon which you can go create your masterpiece. YES the bike is built to a price with a few or many depending how you look at it undesirable features but the basic package is one great cycle. GO YOUR OWN WAY!!

One reason for plastic fenders is to save weight. I'm sure cost is a reason also. If they made the body parts of steel on sport bikes, they would wiegh a ton.

I'm sure you can find an aftermarket steel front fender that will fit, perhaps with a little fiddling with some spacers. At one point I was toying with the idea of buying one from West Coast Choppers, when they first put them on sale for $99.

The plastic ones don't rust though.

Here in Cleveland, OH rust could be an issue...actually could be a good point.
I love the plastic tank on my Buell....no rust inside ever...

I'm in Virginia. Maybe it's just bad luck, but I've seen rust on the chain and various bolts. I ride darn near everyday. Moving here from Arizona 4 year ago, the rust is killing my 85 jeep too. Call me biased, but metal ain't the way to go in certain circumstances.
