Not your rev limiter then...it will cause the bike to "skip" for a few seconds (2-3 seconds) when you hit the rpm... then as soon as you back off the throttle its right back to power I have a little strech of road that I use it for my shifting guide...and by the time I clutch/back off the throtle/and shift...it's right back to take the next gear to the limit...

What is the red line on the 790cc engine? And what is the limiter set to?

don't know about the 790, but the 865 shows a redline of 7500 rpm

Welcome, fellow Floridonian. Maybe diaphram or slide hanging up. Sometimes hard to get the thing back in the groove all the way around.

I think it's 7,400 for a 790 & 7,900 for 865. Makes no sense, but I think that's how it is.

I'm willing to bet the "sense" in it comes from the cam profiles and not the durability of the motors.

Welcome to the site...
My 865 is set at 7,400 rpm...
Maby after hard running fuel level in bowls could be low due to a partialy blocked fuel filter...

That's why it doesn't make sense (to me). 790: Aggressive cams, mild limiter. 865: Mild cams, aggressive limiter. Seems like they are at cross purposes (from a tuner's viewpoint).
However, Mike's comment re 865/7,400 is interesting.
Update: Just checked Bike Bandit's parts listings. They show different #s & descriptions for BA & SM "ICU". SM says "8000 rpm".
Sorry for the hijack, but this in an interesting subject. Seems like if you ever had to cough up the cash for a BA "igniter", (perish the thought), then you might as well get the SM part.

sounds like you might have splash fouled a plug......this can happen when you run up the rpm's and usually goes away rather quickly....

Sometimes I miss the obvious, but I typically shift at 4k on the tach. Is this to say that I'm way under where I should be shifting? 02 TBA by the way.

With a 16t sprocket, I am usually running 5k @80mph, so I was worried about running out of engine. Needless to say I lost 40 miles per tank when making the switch from the 17t to the 16t. Caught me off guard in the middle of the road last night when I barely hit 100 miles from a full tank before having to switch to reserve.
