You are b100dy right there, Mrs can stay at home if we tackle that. The last time I was up there was around 1976/7. And I think I closed my eyes for most of it

Remember doing Harknott when I was about 20, in a Vauxhall Viva, it decided half way up that it wasn't going to do hills anymore!!!! Handbrake was shot, so every time it stalled, I had to jump out, run round the back, hold the car, while my friend took his foot off the brake to restart the car, drive about 15yrds then repeat the process all over again!!! We got over in the end though!

Anyone else interested?

Anyone else fancy putting a date forward?

Looks like it just could be a fun ride out?

We could make this a camping trip in Langdale and decide on a date for it. No good if the weather is bad though.

Or we leave this one "to do" next year, your thoughts appreciated!!!

Oh I see, She got the wine!!!!!!!!!!

Would need a bit of warning, and a new tent. But if it comes down to it, I could do it in a day

OK everyone, had a trial run today for this with the Mrs (in the car)Wrynose is a piece of cake, but Hardknott is hellish.

Very, very misty day, the cars just come flying down at you and you have nowhere to hide. From starting to actually finishing "Hardknott and Wrynose it took about 1 1/2hours, this was with a quick stop to take some photos. The ride back into Lancaster is about 2 1/2 hrs + the time to get to Wrynose in the first place from meeting up about 2hrs.

So I would say you are looking at a full day to do these two little hills

Think this maybe one for next year some time and arrange some camping or something..

I was gonna say that you could have stopped over too.... but I know you had more important stuff to do...But from now on you can!!!!

And I didn't have that much....I drank far more at the BBQ!!

Photo's taken today at Hardknott and Wrynose pass, sorry the reflector on the camera has a bit of dust on it. But it will give you an idea of what to expect. Also the weather took a turn for the worse and it went overcast.

I would say if you feel comfortable riding your bike up steep inclines and are able to put your feet down hold the bike on the rear brake and then let the clutch out to go up hills you will be fine.

I think I may struggle if Margaret wants to come, but that is something I will have to try I think as she is looking forward to it, her sister used to live just round the corner and she was up on these hills a great deal of her younger years!!
