This has been rumored to be available any day for about a year. Kinda' like that aftermarket CDI for the 270 motor. Until now. I checked today, & J&P now lists it in stock. I ordered one. Their P/N ZZ97412. It's a two piece affair & you don't have to pull the cover to get to the cap. We'll see how it works out.

Those crooks...when did they raise their prices...I just looked at these at the begining of the season...oh wait thats for the whole kit, including a chrome screw on cap...But the price of the cover alone (Item # ZZ24670) DID go up from $16.99 to $19.99...still a better deal than the Triumph one...and it is'nt Triumph chrome that alone should make it better... here is the page

>I thought it was the one bottom right of this page. Yup. No pics on it. The show chrome stuff at the top of Rob's post shows the difference between VTX 1300 & 1800, though. 1300 has the mount on the left. I already have a Kury cap, & it works fine.

Here 'tis. It came with a plated allen screw (knurled style - not shown). I had expected a left handed version of the VTX 1800 setup, but this is considerably different. Mounted: Kinda bulky lookin', no sight window, fit not perfect. I had a polished allen screw, so didn't use the supplied (knurled) one. For reference, here's the one Brent supplies (like the Triumph one):

mmmmm...yeah...I think that looks ok. Maybe you could take the better fiting unit in the lower pic and trim the top to accept the chrome cap. That would give it a nice tight look.

Problem there is the required fit of the the two parts is different. One meets the cap & the other covers it.
A similar approach might be to take a standard black one, trim the top off, tack a 1/8" rod around the inside to finish/fill & reinforce, then have it plated. Way too much trouble, huh?
