Folks it's been a long road, and there has not been much I enjoyed more about my Bonny, than the fine folks I've met on this site. Long-Story short, a few months ago I suffered a freak medical incident that took the vision in my right eye. Sugery's and months of recovery have returned a good portion of it but still "legally" blind. With two little girls I decided that riding my motorcycle with one eye was probably not in their best interest, so as much as it killed me, I sold my TBA a few months ago. But I did hold on to my "Stuff" in hopes that my eye would continue to recover and I would be able to ride again in the near future!

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's the plan at all. Instead I'll be visiting at the Doc's every six weeks doing everything I can to stave the continued vision loss and keep my "good eye" good as long as possible. But I should have plenty of time to "see" my girls grow up and all that wonderful stuff, and overall it could be a heck of a lot worse!

So, it's time to let go of what I have left! I'm having a few issues with the old digital camera, but once I have those worked out I'll list them. Most painful will be the Coretech Coaster Jacket my wife got for me. She had the great Triumph Wings stitched in the back and some great patches put on the sleeves. There's also a really nice Mesh warm weather jacket. I've got the Rifle Solo Shield with brackets that I had on for about a month! And perhaps a half-shell helmet or two as well.

I'll put the links up as soon as I can get them listed. But ultimately, just wanted to say thanks for all the advice and fun this site provided to me over the past few years. I tell everyone who asks about a Triumph to check out this site and with any luck there will be some kind of breakthrough and I'll be the first guy to complete the iron butt run with digital ocular implants!

So look for the listings and thanks for everything!

Dude, sorry about your dilema. It seems the cycle thing is minute compared to the future tribulations. hang in there and turn your time and attentions to your family and enjoy them to the fullest. Will look for the stuff and do check in once in a while.

I am very sorry to hear about the troubles with your eye. Whatever you do keep the Coretech Coaster Jacket. Just because you wont be riding (BTW.. no matter what you're still family here), does not mean you should ever get rid of such a meaningful jacket.

Good luck Tom. I'm with everyone else and say keep the jacket. Your wife got it for you and like the others have said you are still a rider at heart.

Getting rid of the TBA doesn't mean you can't come around here anymore.

You've got a great outlook ('cept for that one bum eye, of course....sorry) about this whole sad thing, Tom.

A classier farewell letter I've never read!

Hey! Scratch that "farewell" word there and visit often, OKAY?!

Oh, and DEFINATELY continue to wear that jacket proudly, Dude!!!

Tom,

Hang in there
Sorry to hear about your eye problem. Hope you continue to visit the site and keep in touch with everyone anyway.
I know it's a chiche' and I'm sure you already know but, sometimes a big bump in the road can steer you to a whole new set of exiciting and rewarding experiences. ie- (just a suggestion)- something else that keeps you close to cycles besides riding.

Take Care,
Bob

It's Tom's sad dilemma that has graced me with a very fine TBA. I have been treating the bike as a gift of fate meant to be honored and respected and that isn't going to change. Thanks, Tom and say hi to Mrs. K from me. You should keep the jacket and wear it proudly; you're no poser. And, you are so spot on correct, this is a very fine community and you should remain a part of it.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

Hang in there Tom. I haven't had anything as bad as you with my eyes, but, i do get periodic bouts of 'iritis' in one eye. Some sort of infection that sets in because of arthritis. I have to keep antibiotic drops with me just in case it flares up.
It's no fun. Hopefully, everything will work out for you...i'm sure it will!

sorry to hear about you eye.
But, like everyone else say... Wear that jacket!
You earned it!

Unlike a lot of posers that wear H-D stuff that never rode anything! that's marketing!

Oh, and smile when you wear your jacket!
Like another poster said...your girls may just surprise you with some rides in a few years...
Good luck.

Thanks everyone! Truly appreciate all the well wishes. And Ed, glad to hear she's running so well for you! I may just hang on to that Jacket after all.

It's been a long road, but honestly I'm feeling pretty good about things. The wife and I went out and bought an old Jeep so I get to keep my fingernails dirty working on it! Maybe I'll take her and run tech support for the next GA Rally?

I think I will drop in every now and again as well. Always good to hear what's going on and pick up a few new cracks on the Swine riders (better not make too many comments, I'm a sucker for a left hook these days).

Thanks again
