I worked at a decal company for 6 years. Heat is the trick. Try using a hair dryer or indirect propane torch to heat the decal. It will peel right off.

there is also a spray to take bumper stickers off that doesn't hurt paint.

I do not think you can remove it without hurting the finish. (atleast on mine) there are several coats of clear over the decal.

The speedmaster decal on my sidecover was under the clearcoat.

I easily removed my "Speedmaster" decal while running it under very hot water. Peeled right off.

I removed mine using WD-40. You'll always be able to see where the sticker was however because it is actually ingressed a bit so that the sticker and the plastic are even.

I have the ultra-unique and precious black Bonneville America side cover. I would never DREAM of removing the sticker. If I wanted a color-coordinated side cover I'd get one of those cheap red America or Speedmaster side covers.

Same here, it's part of the rare, "100th Anniversary" model package.... Quote:

Too bad they're not cheap (inexpensive) but they are cheap (as in "plastic cheap")
I also have an original '02 "Bonneville America" sidecover if anybody wants it.

If it is in good condition, I'd be interested. Mine has a few scratches that I've tried to buff off.
