recovery is going great Dwight thnks for asking. Been out doing a little riding 3 times this week. Short hops are no problem but over 50 mph get a little pain around the collar bone from pulling againt the wind. And I hurt a little once I get off.

Monday I plan to start riding to work again. That will be 15 miles of 70 mph plus slab. So that will be the test.

As for the little English crumpet, she's a nice lady.

Good to hear!

Maybe getting a windshield for your bike would be a good idea? That why you're not stressing that collar bone o' yours.

(oh...so we're not accused of hijacking this here thread, I'm goin' ask you if YOUR BOSS is THIS stupid???)

How should you date your paperwork for that day?? I bet "the day after Sept, 10th" won't fit in the little box? You should black out the date on everyons calander at work and tell everyone to stay home for that day since the boss is pretending that date doesn't exist. Then when he calls you into his office to ask why you didn't show up for work you can lean in real close and whisper "The first rule of the office is, we don't talk about 9-11, and the second rule..."

What a <explitive> boss!!

Cowboy , e mail Bill O'Reilly with all of that , they will have fun with it , can't you see your boss with a Fox news camera in his #$%^&&# face ?

Sometimes to hold fast to honor and integrity will cost us dearly , but certainly less than the price paid by those we honor . We often forget too soon tragic days in history , I , as well as lots of you would lose a job to honor the memory of those brave souls .

Well, there's more than a few times on this thread that I've bitten my fingers .
I'll leave it at that.

As to Cowboy's original post:
How about "The day radical Islamist terrorists, mostly from Saudi Arabia (none from Iraq) which enjoys a favored status with the U.S. while maintaining officially sanctioned Wahabist schools to indoctrinate terrorists, destroyed thousands of innocent lives".

Reminds me of when my boss took over a global automotive account with a major presence in Cologne in Germany. As part of his welcome, the local Account director organised a tour of the city.

As it progressed, my boss was suitably complimentary about the architecture both old and new but was puzzeled by one aspect, the bridges.

He commented that all of the bridges over the river seemed to be new and speculated why that should be. After several mentions wih just an uncomfortable silence in response, one of the senior managers said "it has nothing to do with congestion or traffic mangement. It is more to do with the RAF on several previous visits..... "

The rest of the tour was to say the least - a bit uncomfortable.

So the mantra for anyone visiting the site after that.....DON'T MENTION THE WAR !

If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

Well, several have asked, an I'll reluctantly tell. Sit down for this... I work for the government. I'm a Senior Manager with the City of Fort Worth, in Texas no less. AND my boss is a retired Navy Officer to boot.

He and I have exchanged a few emails about this, and I haven't backed down from it, nor will I. He heard the Finance director say it at a pre-council work session and thought it was a great idea. Sad part is, he is a really nice man- but a boob none the less.

We are constantly hawked by the press, and they just love to get trash on us, so they would light him up with this. As much controversy as he has been in the past 16 months, if the media got a hold of this it would cost him his job.

I'm not so sure that I agree that standing up for your beliefs in this circumstance is career suicide.

What do the Ft. Worth Police & Fire Department, for example, think of this new policy? I'd be very curious as to their position on this ignorance and utter disrespect of their vital work and connection to their brothers in NYC. I would imagine there are other civil service folk who would stand up against some policy that got started in some meeting that ran like the story "The Emperor's New Clothes."

Great story, Brummie.

But, the good ol' U.S.A.A.F.(at the time) juuuuust might'a helped "fix" that bridge situation there in Cologne TOO ya know!

I have to say that this subject has haunted me a bit since I read about this most-latest politically-correct policy.

It is just unbelievable. I am stunned.

I can't decide if it bothers me more now that I know it is from a government employee. Probably does.

Cowboy, feel free to pipe up now and say it was all just a joke.

Well on that day as I was on my way in to NYC for the rescue efforts I got a call on my cell from my then CIO stating I would be disciplined for leaving work without permission. My CIO was replaced some time after!!!

Tell your CIO from someone who spent many terribly exhausting hours in 24 hour shifts sorting through the rubble, first hoping to find survivors and later just praying to find any sign of life while all along knowing I just lost an uncle, Captain Danny Brethal FDNY, a great friend Jimmy NYPD and two old schoolmates... he can go **** *******!!!!!!!!!!

Well. He deserves to lose his job. You would be doing a public service by lighting him up on this. Think of it as a cleansing of societal contingency. The strong survive and in this case a weak link like this boss of yours needs to be eradicated and trampled into obscurity. His kind are the weakest and most ineffectual trash in our country.

I disagree, don't get him fired, he needs to keep working right where he is, but he needs to be demoted.

If fired, he'd just take his 'nincompoopness' elsewhere. Demotion is far more embarassing and might give him a clue.

It is at all possible that, in some perverse way, he meant to honor that day as a "holy day", so to speak, by eliminating the common use of its appellation, and we have all mistaken his meaning?

Hey whitzoo! What?! Are you tryin' to play the Henry Fonda part in "Twelve Angry Men" here or somethin'???!!!

Interesting theory, but naaaaahhhhh. I'm not buyin' that.

You would be surprised at the degree of idiocy that exists within corporate and governmental bureacracy?

There are literally thousands of politcally correct do-gooders in positions of influlence and power that would very much like to delegate and impose politically correct doctrine on all of us.

Its a sad commentary in our country today. We can thank the ACLU and its minions and the large volume of attorneys who support this type of mindset.

Kevin, I still don't want to turn this into a political debate, so I'll just say that on "both sides of the aisle" there are, and have always been, people who will always try to subvert the language to their benefit, and who haven't the courage to, as the old saying goes..."Call a Spade, a Spade!"

I see it happen all the time.

Look. This man is saying class, don't use the 9-word anymore. Please extinuish all cigarettes. Place your tray tables in their upright, locked position. Your CIO says: Put your head on your knees. Your CIO says: Put your head on your hands. CIO says: Put your hands on your head. Put your hands on your hips. Heh heh. This is your CIO-and we are going down. We are all going down, together. And I said: Uh oh. This is gonna be some day. Standby. This is the time. And this is the record of the time. This is the time. And this is the record of the time.

Did ya'll hire him from Austin? That is the kind of nitwit ideas Austin usually has. Like the time they wanted to invite ALL illegal aliens to Austin and make it a political aslyam---or the time they bought hundreds of bicycles, painted them yellow and letf them around the city for anyone to ride and then wondrered what happened to all the bikes? And then...you get the point

Looks like they hired him from Columbus, Ohio. The Captain has been the CIO for the City of Fort Worth for about 30 months.

Hey redbike! As a fellow RED Bike owner, I'm SURE you can just imagine how much QUICKER those yellow bicycles would have disappeared had those city fathers there in Austin had them painted red INSTEAD!!! At LEAST ya gotta give 'em THAT, HUH???!!!

I KNOW you'll understand the desireability factors involved here my friend. It's those poor misguided owners of those black BAs and Speedies around here who just can't seem to understand this concept, ya know!

(hey...come to think of it, maybe those politicos there in Austin should'a had them there bicycles painted black instead, huh?! And then the streets of Austin would probably STILL be littered with those darn bicycles, HUH?!)

(Okay...We now return you to the "Righteous Indignation(and rightly so, I might add) Channel" and to our host..Cowboy!)
