Custom = you going to a shop.
OEM Flamed or Flamed tank is a Triumph accessory you get form the dealer. Hermys lists it for $793.25.

The local body shop guys should know where to find the airbrush (or however they do it these days) artists. Chances are often good you might find someone who works out of their house or cellar who can do a heck of a job for not a lotta money.
The Triumph price seems Mighty high to me.

If you want to see an outstanding example of paint artistry on a Triumph, check out photos of Airguy's bike. His tailight setup is awesome too.

I gotta go with Bucky on this one - get it from Triumph and it'll look just like every other factory flame paint job.

I see them on Ebay all the time. Do a search on "Triumph America". If you don't see one wait a couple of weeks and there will be another. The prices are very good too.

There's nothing wrong with that, though. I've seen a lot of bad flame jobs out there and they still cost a lot more than the factory paint kit.

I have the Triumph flame job. I also rely on my bike every day. It was convinent for me to go in, get the tank put on and pick my plain tank up 3 weeks later...

I know I now have a bike that looks like Graham's, and Neil's and several others, but I hated the plain black tank. I like the swoosh on the 03...

Anyway, if I was to buy a tank of eBay and then get it prepped and find a suitably talented person to do a base layer of one color, and then another person to airbrush flames and then take it back to the first person to get it laquered - not to mention find a person to carry it around for me in their car - I'd be paying as much and having all the hassle.

However I may have the plain tank painted in the future and change them over when I get bored!

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Ya know, once my new tin is painted I'll have my stock tin repainted. The candy orange is pretty beat up, especially the rear fender.

I would love love love to have a Mike Lavallee True Fire paint job, and not some cheesy knock off. A lot of people are trying to emulate his style. Nobody has come close, except maybe the gal he hired and trained to paint his true fire giant cigarette lighters. Even my very-talented long-time best friend who does my paint now can't pull it off very well. Problem is, I bet Lavallee charges a few grand for a set of motorcycle tin. I could get'er done but it just isn't worth that kind of cash to me.

Now if only I could convince him of how badly his website sucks and trade a new design for a paint job...

Can't hurt to try. I have done trades for web sites before. Nothing high profile like Mike Lavallee, but never hurts to ask.

Hey FJ we'll all start emailing Levallee to tell how bad his website is, and then you can swoop in and save the day!

I actually like the factory custom paint.

It's far better then some of the "attempts" at older style flame jobs.

I have a set in green on my SM-I think the green and the blacked out engine looks fantastic.

I got the tin set and a rear fender for a very reasonable price.

It's a daily rider. A great look'n daily rider I might add. LOL

I actually agree. It's not bad. I've seen a lot of custom paint, and my buddy tapes out some of the best traditional flames I've ever seen, but if I didn't have access to him for custom paint I wouldn't mind having the factory flame job. I also like the factory tribal paint for the Rocket III.

Check out this guy for your flames paint.
Click the link below and or call and ask for Cody.
He sold me a Triumph custom paint flags kit a couple weeks ago for $400. Tank and front fender.
I know he had the flames on Ebay once so he may still have them.

That tank looks awesome! Someday I want to do something similar, except in dark metalic gray and black flames.

Bill -
The paint job was about $600, plus the cost of a used tank from another forum member. I knew it would be that much, but if I'm going to pay for it, I wanted real custom as opposed to the "stock" custom from Triumph.
I have not painted the fenders, as its a dang close match. My painter called the base color a candie apple red - I don't remember which paint I picked - just gave him the codes after I eyeball matched it. My bike is/was original 2002 Cardinal Red (which you cannot get even with the paint codes I found out!!!)

Happy hunting on a paint job!

I bought a mulberry red and cream tank off ebay last year, I like the M/red and have just asked my mate to see if he can get the colour in the UK somewhere, keeping my fingers crossed.

The tank looks brilliant Becky
