Davida...any time. I love mine, and really should replace it, but it fits just too well.
I also have a couple of Roof lids which are comfy just don't fit me as well as the Davida, and I suffer extreme wind noise with them.
Oh yeah the Davidas are not cheap....but worth it for the quality

Such a big question! It's really a case of trial and error, as you've already found out.
As you say, there are a lot of lids from £30 up but it really is what you're comfortable with. It's a pain that you try a lid and feel ok only to discover after riding for an hour, you hate it!
I didn't get my open face in the UK so I'd waste your time suggesting it. What have you tried already?
Have you tried a flip-front? Best of both worlds - most have detachable chin pieces so you have one lid that serves all year round.

Already got a flip front bmw system 5,schuberth c2 (the best)flip fronts & a shoei xr1000 full face. I had a caberg c1 plus £110 with open face conversion kit which was rubbish so I sold it & got the schuberth £350 so as you can see I have expensive taste but dont want to make the same mistake again. Ive looked at takhai, roof,(davida which are on the top of my list)arai freeway, shoei & the schuberth so as you can see Im a bit stumped.

The patriot in me is saying the Davida - the only UK helmet makers. But I'm biased.
It's really just gonna as Funkle says try it and see how it feels. Course then you try one on and then they get a new one out the back and that feels nothing like the one you tried on....(the worst for that is Davida....as they are hand made.)
Maybe you can go to the shop try on a lid and sit and drink a coffee or something wearing it, so it's not just try it on for 2 minutes and then take it off again.

If there's one thing I'm jealous about you Europeans, it's all the cool helmets you have to choose from. We can't get Schuberth here anymore, and most of the other cool Euro helmets we have to order online if we can get them at all, which I'm hesitant to do for a helmet.

Well, the best one i ever had was a cromwell, but that was 30 years ago. Now i use a bandit jet, cost me £60. Good soundproofing and sits low on your head, most open face now tend to look a bit conehead.
