Has anyone had there clutch lifter are wobble around? Just got back from a 600mile trip uo West Coast of Scotland and found that the little lever for the clutch is moving around in a circular motion and in and out od the chrome cover. First noticed it because of a tiny smear of oil around it!. I assume its the entire side cover off and new gasket just to start with.

Pull the chrome lifer cover off, use a suitably sized wrench to ease the lifter arm forward to provide slack in the cable, and remove the cable while holding tension. Ease off on the wrench, it should stop moving around 2 o'clock. How much movement now? If yours keeps going, put the cable back on for now as you definitely need to take off the side cover and see what's wrong.

New gasket and new seal (goes in the cover). I wonder if your return spring got detached somehow??

Does your clutch still work? When I installed stiffer springs, I laid throwout plate down wrong and ended up installing it backwards. This allowed a couple of extra millimeters of travel, enough for the mechanism to completely come apart when clutch lever was pulled.
When you pull clutch lever, lifter arm rotates the shaft that goes into the case. There is a flat spot ground in the side of that shaft that a "bullet pin" rides on. That is the connection between lifter arm and throwout plate. When shaft rotates, that flat spot turns and pushes the bullet pin into throwout plate, disengaginng the clutch. If the shaft is allowed to turn too far, bullet pin pops onto wrong side of shaft and return spring unhooks. If your bullet pin is worn or otherwise a tad short, same thing would happen. There is nothing holding the lifter arm/shaft in there except the flat end of bullet pin in the flat ground out spot in the shaft. Once it is over-rotated, shaft can be pulled right out. Either way, if not in warranty, you will have to pick up a gasket and take it apart.
