Got out and rode a little today first time since the crash.
Bike seemed to handle well. She aint as pretty as she was, still waiting for some parts but bent back the old ones so shes ridable for now.

ok heres the question, when I parked her today I noticed
that when you turn the forks all the way to left there is only about 1/16 inch of clearance between the gas tank and fork shroud. But if I turn the other way there is about 3/8 clearance is this normal or do I have a not so visible problem? There are no obvious dents or dings and nothting looks bent or feels loose.

I'm sure you have but better check those stops under the triple tree and if their good better check the fork tubes. A slide with the front wheel hitting a bollard damaged both of mine. I'm still trying to find some fork tubes for less than the OEM ones.($200 each)

I was thinking fork stops or tweaked handlebar risers myself.

yep I would think bent tab on the frame that stops the tree or that tab maybe gouged into the lower tree , either one allowing the forks to turn farther. Or as Ed said the risers are tweeked. My idea and offereing is if you are still running the same tank maybe one or more of the yank mounting points got bent.

These guys pretty much nailed it. To be sure, I'd remove the tank and measure to the same point on the backbone from the bar tips with it locked in right and left positions. A framing square comes to mind.

You might be able to eliminate causes.

Grab the front of the tank and try to lift it. If it's not installed properly with the rubber donuts inserted into the guide tracks on the frame, you will have fork clearance problems.

the tab that Dog33 mentioned is off center, but it dosnt look bent. Its welded flush to the frame on the right side, with about a 1/4 gap on the left side, Shoddy workmanship if you ask me. But form the look of it, its always been like that just never noticed. Guess A smiple fix would be to weld a shim in there.

Thanks again guys.
