Mate came over thursday night to have a beer & have a look at my new America, get a phone call friday afternoon saying he'd bought one that morning "a two tone blue" had me scratching my head so I went over to his place yesterday and sure enough it is 2 tone blue - Pacific Blue & a light metalflake blue - not a custom job but straight out of the crate from Triumph. The Aussies may pay more than we do in the States but at least you are getting first dibs. My dealer probably won't have any '08's until Spring of '08.

Jaymo. When is your spring over there in the States, that seems a long time to wait - however I don't think that these models we are getting over here now are not the official 08 Model- more of a Transitional species or a genetically modified 07. The official 08 model will hit the market with EFI - we are still getting the new cosmetics with Carbies. Probobly because of our geographical location to Thailand where they are assembled. Hoffo

Never leave home without a camara. I purposely got a cell phone with a camara just for those occassions when you need to take a picture. Its come in handy many times. Especially at concerts.

Agreed re. the Camera, However 2 things I don't carry with me on a bike is a mobile phone and a watch - guess I'm just an Old Dinosaur, although the mobile phone/camera seems like a good idea, a bit more compact than a camera,- opps!!! look out I'm slipping into the 21st century. Hoffo

This year the dealers meeting isn't until October. They are having it in Georgia this year.

According to the wrench at my dealers we get new models first because Aust has the widest range of climates and road conditions along with a small-med sized market. Lets them use us for "shake down" tests so they don't introduce ten times as many bikes with problems into their main market - the US.
It means we see the bikes first - it also means we get them before the bugs're ironed out. When I told him I was interested in buying a 1500 when/if it came out he recommended I wait six months after release because of the whole bug-fix thing.

Matt, that makes a ton of sense and actually is pretty darn smart of Triumph to do that. Nothing like "real world" testing, beats lab testing any day.

As "they" say..."Never buy a first-year model of anything". The only problem with that old saying is that it's always a bit more fun to be first on your block to own that new "whatever" and witness people's reaction to it. Funny though...even after all these years, I think we all still daily encounter that..."Woo-WEE! Nice lookin' Triumph, guy!!! When did they start......" (hey! do I REALLY have to finish that sentence, folks???!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
