What? No "Great Escape"? That might be Triumph's & Steve McQueen's most famous scene

I thought it was Ice Cube that rode a daytona in Torque.... there's a movie that you need to add to the collection!

Two of the lesser known flicks, "Coogan's Bluff"(1968) and "Nowhere To Run"(1993) have some very good riding sequences in 'em which prominently display our favorite motorcycle brand around here.

The former has Clint Eastwood playing an Arizona Ranger chasing bad guy Don Stroud through New York's Central Park, both riding "borrowed" '67 Bonnies. The latter has that stonefaced action-hero of a few years back, Jean-Claude Van Damme, riding a '60s vintage Triumph over mountain trails in efforts to escape the corrupt local cops who are chasing him on horseback and with a helicopter.

(look for the scene about halfway through the Van Damme flick where he goes into the local rural general store looking for a part to fix the old Triumph and the bad guy who happens to be there asks him what the part is for)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

There was a movie last Summer, but I forgot the name where the guy is running around town a on a Thruxton.

Roadside Prophets has Adam Horovitz riding a 68 Bonnie.

So Dwight,
What was the name of that classic that we watched at the SWTF?
I think we tentatively identified a Triumph.

Didn't think of that one. I have to say The Worlds Fastest Indian was a great flick. Anyone who hasn't seen it yet should. The real stuff in the special features is great too.

Don't forget 'Masters of Menace'! Also about a third of the WWII movies made in the 40's including the 'Why We Fight' series. While not really feature films, several episodes of 'The Avengers' featured motorcycles, mostly 500 CC Triumph twins.

Well Bill, that "classic" I screened was titled "Outlaw Riders". Pretty bad, wasn't it?!

Though I'm still tryin' to get a DVD of "Dragstrip Riot"(1958) for next year!

Do the bikes in this poster look familiar?

(ooh! And THIS ONE has Connie Stevens in it TOO!)

Great flick, John!

My favorite part is the slow-motion showing the old A.M.A. Grand National Championship Series riders sliding their Triumphs, BSAs, Harleys and Yamahas(with the occassional Norton) around the Mile and the 1/2 Mile.

(Oh, whatever became of that great old series of races where those pro riders had to master Flattrack, TT and road races in order to bolt that cherished #1 plate onto their machines the next year?!...how I miss it!)

There's a compilation with using that poster shot, "Mayhem & Psychosis". That would have been a better name for the movie probably!

Well C.J., I didn't see YOU at the Southwest Triumph Fest this year! And if YOU would'a been there in beautiful Prescott Arizona this past May, then YOU would have known that "mayhem and psychosis" were the order of the day during that rally, Sir!!!

(especially in regards to a certain frozen lasagna!!!!!)
