I've read the other posts about drilling out the baffles and I've gotten a good idea of what I have to do. The only question I have, is there any diff on the stock pipes on a 05 model and the 07? I've read something about the catalysator-thingy in one post...

yes there is a catalytic converter in the front end of the pipe. It is a soft material and is held in place by a steel pin.

so... the front end is where the pipes meet the header? ie, where the footrests are? (I'm norwegian and english modding-lingo is kind of hard to get sometimes... :P)

are there 3 or 4 baffles? if I remove the 3 (or 4) baffles, then I will se the catalytic converter?

thank you for your answer dog! I really appreciate it!

be careful the cat is soft and if you hit it you will crush it closed blocking off the exhaust.

ok, didn't really answer the previous one though.. (pardon if I seem a little to anxoius here)

is there any difference in sound between the modded TORS and the modded stocks? It seems to me that if I clean the both of them out, they are basically the same pipes? or am I wrong? I listened to the soundbit of the modded TORS and I really liked it. It's pretty much what I'm after. And is that the sound of the long TORS or the short ones?

There will be a small difference if you are compareing long to short. If both are same length slash cuts then no difference. I cut the taper off a couple sets of stock tapered pipes and gutted them. even though they are same length as stock slash cut pipes and are the same except for the slash cut vs. straight cut for a cannon pipe they sound different from each other. I misunderstood what you were asking I guess. I hope this answers your question.

that was what I was hoping for, so I will clean out my stock pipes, they will sound close to the modded TORS on the soundbit, wich is the sound I want, and HOPEFULLY not mess with the catalytic converter.

Thanks dog!

As a matter of interest, do all the later models have catalytic converters in them or is it just the bikes designated for the USA ?

well... I'm not in the USA so that can't be it. I'm in Norway. I tought it was the other way around, ie the EU had them and USA didn't.

No ,the USA has them. I'm not sure if it's in all the 07s or not but I know it is in some at least.

I was guessing they all had them but didn't want to make a blanket statement since I didn't know if they used up the end of the non-cat pipes on early models then switched when those were gone. Triumph was famous for that in the past.

I finally cleaned out my pipes today... and wow!! I removed 3 baffles and there are 4 total. The sound is a deep menacing 'bop bop' kind of cool! I left the 4th one in since it's kind of hard to reach, and the sound is cool as it is.

I also removed the snorkel, but I haven't re-jetted jet. I don't know if I need to?! the bike runs reeeeeally well and it is a kick riding it. the torque is amazing (even my friend, who drives a hd told me the same after he tried for a spin)

you should check your plugs and most likely rejet since you opened the pipes.

that side is richer than the other , possibly the mix screw is turned out farther on that side or slide is hanging up allowing extra fuel in at low speed among other possible causes.
