I have got the new chain and was checking out the sprockets.they look good for 26,000miles, very little wear.I need some opinions. One side of me, says change them and the other side says they will be no trouble.I don't go on long runs any more and i don't abuse the bike.

If you are going to put a new chain on then put new sprockets on.

Is this set directly from triumph? If so do they let you pick and choose your front sprocket size?

The parts list shows a chain/sprocket kit with 42/16 (original SM) and 42/17 (original BA), but not sure if one is available yet for the current configuration of 42/18. I'm hoping it is available by the time mine wears out.

One of our guys was brilliant on the primary sprocket. Flip it over. The fishhook will be on the front side then. Replace it next chain cycle.

Ditto on the old school MotoX trick - doubles the life of the front sprocket - I bet you could even swap the rear the same way...anyone try that yet?

I looked at flipping the back sprocket as well as the front, but there is a slight offset in the back sprocket, so I didn't do it. The back sprocket is slightly thicker on the (original) outer side, but flush on the (original) inner side.
I always flip or change the front sprocket about every oil change. (Front sprockets are only $19 and are very quick and easy to swap out. Front sprockets should also wear out about 3 times faster than the rear sprockets, i.e. according to the gear ratios.) My chain and rear sprocket look like new, but then I only have 18,000 miles on them.

I flipped my rear after dealer sold me standard Bonnie sprocket (won't work). The offset difference didn't look like enough to worry about, especially considering how out-of-alignment my rear adjusters were for 20,000 miles. I bought an alignment tool when I changed my chain, my adjusters are a whole notch off. Chain is much quieter now. Wouldn't consider flipping front, too hooked. Can't be good on decel/engine braking.

I am going to go 530 with the Honda sprockets so I can just run a standard chain amd keep a chain breaker and master link on the bike.
