I know a lot has been talked about regarding warped brake rotors on this forum.I owned an 03 America before I bought my Speedie.I had 14,000 miles on the America. The rotors had to be replaced 3 times before I traded bikes. The front wheel was replaced the last time this happened with the America. The warranty was getting close to expiring so I decided to trade for the Speedmaster thinking maybe the dual disk might make a difference. When I had 9,000 miles on the Speedie it happened again!!!So I take the bike to the dealer and they replace rotors and pads.I talked with the mechanic and was told the rotors they put on were the new style no taper and I shouldn't have any more problems????? Any thoughts?By the way this a great forum!!!! Picked up on some great ideas!

The 03 America has 12000 miles on it and has no warping. When I put the extra disk on I reused the old one, that's how good that one is.

The 06, that had it's rotor replaced at 3500 miles.

And I ride them the same way, so it's not the way I ride...

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

I know and I have read about back to the factory and all. I was simply reporting that I haven't had any problem on my 04 Speedmaster since someone had mentioned having a problem on a Speedmaster and it seems most of the problems have been on the America. Wendys 04 America rotor is slightly warped I think from the feel under breaking. I haven't slapped a dial indicator on it yet so I say I think since it hasn't been varified yet.

Also the low miles that have been reported for warping and I'm at almost 14,000 with no problem. I ride pretty hard and break hard when needed too. Just strange how it's some and not others.

I think this topic, should be placed as a sticky, because the majority of people owning the America has had replacements.

11000 miles
4 Rotors/front discs 3 of which are the new style
2nd front wheel
2nd caliper

18,000 miles, no problems. Always keep the 2 caliper pins clean and a VERY light coat of grease on them, so the calipbers don't get "sticky". (I normally pull the pins every couple of thousand miles, as they do tend to get "gummed up/sticky").

About 33,500 and no rotor problems, other than not being able to slow from 90 to 20mph in a half-second.

I don't think I'm going find a TBS wheel anytime soon, so when my front rotor does need replacing I'm going floater.
