I had my trial by fire today.

My first real ride in traffic, or over 30mph for that matter, was when I picked up my new 2007 Pacific Blue/New England White TBA from the dealer today.

I had a 15 mile ride home from one end of town to another. I called a buddy who's been riding for years and had him tail me in my car (which I needed to get home anyway) in case I wee'd myself or laid it down or anything along the bad lines. Long story short, very confidence inspiring bike. I was smiling the whole way, which was much different than the nervousness and/or fear I was expecting. I did kill it a couple of times on the way, and four times trying to put it in my garage (our deiveway is on an incline), but, all in all, it was a blast.

Already had two guys on Harleys check out the bike.

Other first impressions:
The photos of the blue paint do not do it justice in the least. When the dealer rolled it out into the sunlight, I was really struck by the depth of the color.

The thing runs like butter fresh out of a microwave.

I'll most likely need a new set of pipes.

I'll post pictures tomorrow or the next day. I'm proud to say, I'm not just a lurker now, I'm an owner.

-Dennis

Good on yer dennisrjohn
Picked mine up yesterday from Nerang on the Gold Coast - 60 miles ride home on the freeway. Stopped off at Yatla for the obligatory Meat Pie (Yatla Pies are famous for that).Parked the bike and had bout 10 lookers in 10mins asking questions and complimenting the bike, you are going to have to get used to that.
Enjoy the best bike made today.

Glad you are happy with it. The feeling just grows especially as you do more and more to it to make it your own unique scoot.

PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE!!!

Empty parking lots and deserted roads are your friend .

Read the Riding Technique section, there's a whole bunch of experiance in there.

Congratulations on your new bike, and welcome to the Sanitarium!

That's why I asked where in Idaho, because middle and northern Idaho is spectacular but southern Idaho, not so much.

Welcome to the club Dennis.

If you havent all ready, then the MSF course is a great learning tool. It will give you loads of info and a lots of confidence. I highly recommend it.

Of course, if you have already taken the course then ignore everything i just said, and go out and put some miles on that beautiful new motorcycle of yours.
