Front wheel / tire mounted, tire too big to accomodate front fender (4.00 x 19), needs 3.50 x 19, so front wheel will have to come off again...new clutch cable installed, new throttle cables installed, new contact points for ignition installed...

But, you don't need a front fender as long as it doesn't rain. (which it is doing here this morning )

I always wired those bikes from scratch myself eliminateing all the crap they don't need and greatly simplifying it. Everything still works I don't get rid of anything just don't put a few extras in. Plus the OEM harness on those bikes was below par to say the least. It isn't too hard to make it look OEM if thats what you want. The woven cloth sheathing is available to run the wire through. I have done it so many times now it's about a 2 hr job with no sheath.

If you were closer I would wire it for you. I have a book that helped me greatly called Motorcycle Electrics Without Pain. Gives you very simple instructions and a diagram that looks like a 17 year old drew it with pictures drawn of the coils etc.. That book taught me all I needed to know to wire almost any older bike. It is a thin paper back book no thicker than an average calander.

You sir, are living out my fantasy. My wife says I have too many hobbies. She can't stand the thought of me "junking up the garage" on a project bike.
Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

I'm looking for a project bike. Either an old Triumph (60's or 70's) or a BMW (70's or 80's). However, i am a tight ar*e and dont wont to pay for it. Im hopeing to find some sorry piece of machinery lying in someones barn that the owner wants rid off.

Found out why switch harness' are so long, it had frikkin' "ape hanger" handle bars on it!!!! DUH...and I was the one that took them off....anyway, diked ape hanger extensions off, re-soldered bullet connectors, everything hooked up, but looks like crap (all connectors bundled into golf ball sized clump), but will have to work for now..

Bought new "bullet" connectors and an ignition switch, have all connectors hooked up (golf ball size mass), put battery in and wah lah...after about 4 hours of tinkering, have headlight working in both modes, both plug wires firing healthy blue spark, and nothing on fire!!! Will have to get entire exhaust system, and a few gas tank plumbing items before I attempt to start her...will have fire extinguisher standing by!!!

Screw the exhaust...and who needs 2 petcocks? Chicken wired up the exhaust pipes, plugged one petcock off, put in the gas, and started kickin...left cylinder "puffs" every now and then, and pipe gets warm, but right cylinder cold...and low compression...will take head off and see whats goin on...either rings or valves...may as well do it all....now shooting for first of year...

Got head off this morning, flipped upside down, poured in gas over valves, right exhaust valve leaking profusely....will remove all valves, re-lapp, reinstall. Removed jug, pistons look good, but will go ahead and have jug bored to .020 over with new pistons and rings, all for only $250.....wow, what a deal!!!
