I'm having a problem with my feul cap in that once done up I can't get it undone. Had to borrow a nice man in a white van's monkey wrench the other day to get it undone. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do about it? I promise it's not because I'm weedy.

They're tight at first, but tend to loosen up. Don't give up. I didn't and it started to work just fine. But if you do give up easily you can just buy a replacement cap.

Mine is the same way as is many others on this site. What I do is snug the cap but try to stop befor it clicks, it is much easier to remove next time then. If it does click take it off and try again.

Nope you are not weedy. I have a replacement on the 06. And I'm sure there's a bit in the AUP that says that siblings can't be nasty to each other.

I smile pretty and ask the guy getting gas in the car next to me to help me out.

At first I would just use two hands, to remove the cap, but now it's easy, after 16k miles. Dave

Ive got a 2007 model and i couldnt get cap off.The paint on the lip of filler has softened up and glues itself to the rubber seal on the cap.Anyone else got paint breaking up at the filler lip?

That's very common. I had the paint inside the filler bubble up but took my tank off for custom paint not long after. While it was off the bike I sanded out the loose bits around the filler. Didn't bother to repaint in there or anything. No one sees it but me.

Mine stuck a few times just after I got the bike. Doesn't happen anymore. Also, the fuel petcock was sticky a couple of times. I think it has to do with this camel boogies they are trying to pass off as petrol.

The second or third time I went to fill my tank, I couldnt get the d*mn thing off at the gas station. I rode back home, parked it and tried the next morning. It loosened up easily then. Thats the only time I had a problem. FWIW, it was very hot that day, and I went to reserve before getting to the station. Thats the only time I had a problem, but I generally fill at @ 120 - 130 miles, before I hit reserve.

Thanks for all the advice. Have to admit to being a woose and haven't clicked since. If a 6ft1in 20 stone bloke having trouble then don't feel quite so bad. Did wonder if it had something to do with it been hot when filling up but have the same problem when cold. Will check the paint though. Sounds like it will improve though, just have to keep on riding,'oh bother'! Has three guys tried to undo it at the petrol station and couldn't move it I didn't feel to bad. Paul beware of arsnic gremlins!!!!!!!!!!
