Ok so I took off my upper yoke to paint it and i might take off my lower yoke as well. Any easy way to make sure they line up correctly when i put them back on? I figure if they're even slightly off it will mess up my whole front end resulting in a crash....so please help? haha

Once you put the forks back in the tree (yokes) and put the front axle back in torqued to spec the assembly will pretty much align itself. There's not enough play between the components to let you get far enough off to cause a crash.

But I took off my upper yoke..so your saying put that back on...then slide in my forks bolt on the wheel and then tighten the upper yoke back on?

Yes, start by putting the forks back in the tree and snug it up, add the front wheel assembly, and then begin to torque everything to spec using the front axle as your starting point, like it's the alignment tool. Once the axle fasteners are properly torqued you can get the fork tubes squared away in the yoke assembly and then torque those allens (8mm first) to spec. Let the whole thing sit for a bit and then check all of the fasteners for proper torque as the bolts do stretch a wee bit when first torqued and you want to be certain everything's up to spec. You might PM Chy and make sure I haven't left anything out...he's in the real business after all...

Always pays to double check your work when it comes to the front end and rear wheel. And then, a cautious test ride to insure there's no glaring error (like loose handlebars). And, i'd still check with a member that has a shop manual in hand to make certain you didn't miss anything.
Doesn't seem like there's that much to it as long as you've got a good spring compressor and you're very cautious, spring loaded objects tend to be dangerous when first let out of the box. You'll lose shock travel so bottoming out is likley. You just have to remember that you can't cut so much that there's no preload at all, that could lead to an unstable situation which could be dangerous.

Don't know anything springs but I was thinking instead of cutting springs how bout getting a set made up that are a bit shorter with preload will it affect your shock internals,if not I know a bloke that makes car springs it would be worth the effort to make up a separate set of shorter ones and still keep your shock springs. Just a thought, been wanting to ask that question for a while but I thought it sounded dumb, if it could be done someone would have done that before. Hoffo

Struts are a fast reversible solution and a sprung solo always looks cool. Hey, did you sit on it and roll that thing forward and grab a handful of front brake to make sure you had everything buttoned up?

haha not yet...its still on the bike stand...I have to redo it anyway. And as far as the rear springs...well...Im debating whether im doing struts ( if anyone knows the best place to buy them cool) or lowering springs or cutting them...which from what Ive heard...could be dangerous if i mess up. sooo i have some thikning to do
