I'm kinda torn on wich one to get, What are the pro and cons of each bike, the TBS im looking at is a 1999, if I was to get a speedy it would be a 07.Are there any known problems with the TBS in that year?

90% of the people here will tell you to get the Speedmaster. You might want to go over to TriumphRat.net to ask about the reliability of the TBS.

I have a friend who rides a TBS, and he's told me that is has a penchant for overheating...especially when sitting in traffic on hot summer days. Shocking, considering the water cooled nature!

The only thing that my speedy overheats sitting in traffic are my legs!!

really, though - what are you looking for?? the TBS and speedmaster are 2 totally different bikes...

I've always thought of a TBS as something of a retro nekkid sportbike, whereas the Speedy is a cruiser. That said, the speedy will handle the twisties quite well.

They are 2 totally different beasts....
Riding position, comfort level, passenger and cargo capacity, power. Both great bikes but very different - all depends on what you are looking for.

I wouldn't mind having a TBS someday in the stable, but right now I just want the front wheel.

I see HP numbers are way different, Ive never seen a TBS up close on person, just in pictures.
How much has the speedy changed since it came out thru the years?
I'm thinking if I want something more laidback with a sporty feel I should go with the speedy.

The Thunderbird Sport has been described as the “Gentleman’s Hooligan Bike.” Apt description, lots of power, great handling and a classy look. Hard to go wrong with either or, even better, both!

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I own a 98 TBS and love it,you cant go wrong with either bike! They both have different riding styles, there is nothing like the sound and feel of a triple.I have ridden both and owned a TBA.
You pick the style you wanna ride then go pick the bike that bests fits you...

Get both!! I have an America and just bought a Thunderbird Sport. Awesome bike, very different from my America, but smooth as silk. The America is for the wife and I, the TBS is for ME!!

Oh man!! I'm going to jail!!

Not to say that spects don't count when making this decision but do not forget the grin factor. I tell any one who is tring to pick a ride from two or more choices, test out which ones you like then go with the one that puts the biggest grin on your face. It's like relationships, if your not madly in love why bother?

and by overheating he means the temp light comes on? you may want to tell him there was a service bulletin on that a few years back.
