Hiya
I am going to the South of France with a buddy in August taking the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry. Its the first time I have made a ferry crossing on a motorcycle and was wondering if there was any advice any of the hardened channel crossers could give me. One thing is how do you secure the bike on the ferry, because it can't just stand on the sidestand ?
Any comments appreciated

Andy

they put a metal fence up for your bike to be secured to and then strap the bike to the fence, The fence is covered in sponge so it will not damage your bike, I took extra ropes just to make sure it was secured.

Hope this puts your mind at rest a little

On the two I have just been on there is a strap with a pad which you place over the saddle you then attach it to the elephants feet in the deck (I used to be a chief engineer on a ferry) and then ratchet it down on the side stand side so you are pulling it down onto it seemed to work ok

Cheers

Kev
